She looked so focused on finishing her drink, anyone would believe it. Heck, she believed it herself. The lights were dimmed from where she was seated, so she can't be easily spotted. The music wasn't blasting, but it was loud enough for her pulse to be one with the bass. Mostly everyone was up and dancing, or at least trying to. Her friends included. She had been with them during the fast songs, but that was five minutes ago. Once the DJ had switched to slower songs, she had excused herself. Now here she was, drinking for who knows how long, her eyes glancing anywhere but her friends. The sound of a chair scraping against the tile flooring startled her.
"Hey, stupid woman."
"Hahi?" Nearby stood Gokudera Hayato, not so much of a friend, but a friend of a friend. Tsuna-san's friend to be exact. He had always been a delinquent, always cursing, always yelling or shouting, and always calling her 'stupid woman'. Not that it bothered her as much anymore. "Gokudera-san, you were sitting across from here?" She hadn't noticed him at all.
"Of course I was, what are you blind now? Really..." he paused.
Thinking he had finished speaking, she picked up her cup and resumed her previous actions.
Gokudera raised an eyebrow. "Are you seriously still drinking that?"
"I'm thirsty," she replied bluntly.
"Uh-huh. 'Course you are. Just like the last ten minutes. That cup's empty, isn't it?"
"..." She put down the cup and eyed him. "Do you need something, Gokudera-san?"
This time it was her turn to raise her eyebrow, as he turned away from her suddenly and answered. "Well...why are you just sitting here? Shouldn't you be dancing with Tenth and everyone else?"
She looked at her cup and softly said, "Haru shouldn't disturb Tsuna-san and Kyoko-chan."
Gokudera shifted from foot to foot before sighing. "Yeah, I get it. But..."
Haru watched as Gokudera continued speaking, amused at how pink his face was. I thought he had pale skin...Maybe he's hot in that suit?
"Look"-he looked down at his feet-"I don't want to look like an idiot just sitting in an empty table"-he glanced at her straight in the eye before looking away...again-"and I'm pretty damn sure you don't want to either. So..."
Realization donned on Haru as she understood where he was getting at. She couldn't help but giggle.
The silver haired delinquent was taken aback. "What's so funny?"
"I'm sorry, it's just that you don't look like much of a dancer to me."
Her bluntness startled him, but he quickly regained his composure. "For your information, I can dance just fine."
The pair remained silent as another song began playing. Face reddening once again, Gokudera offered a hand to the girl sitting in front of him. The silent gesture was gladly accepted.
