Cogg pulled the lever and the entire shop began to shake. It felt as though they were in the midst of an earthquake. But almost as soon as it had started, the shaking stopped.
Luke swallowed, trying to push away the nauseous feeling in his stomach. He looked over at Flora who was a pale green.
"I feel dizzy-"
Flora fainted and Luke reached out and caught her before she hit the floor. He carried her over to a couch and put her down. He sat with her head in his lap, stroking her hair.
"Flora?" She opened her soft brown eyes.
"You passed out." He told her.
"Thanks for catching me."
"A gentleman must always help a lady in need." Recited Luke.
"Oh." Flora said with a hint of disappointment.
"It's nothing. Never mind." Flora said, blushing. She started to sit up, but fell back.
"I guess I'm still a bit dizzy." She murmured.
"You should rest. I'll stay with you. I insist!" he said when Flora tried to protest. "The professor can solve this mystery without me." Luke started to stroke her hair once again. Flora closed her eyes. Luke brushed his hand over her cheek then snatched it back.
"Why'd you stop?" Flora asked sleepily.
"I-uh-er-" He looked down at Flora, his cheeks flushed. She gazed back up at him.
"Ummm…" Luke's face was now crimson.
"I have to tell you a secret." Flora said suddenly and Luke bent his face close to hers.
"What?" he breathed.
Flora reached up and touched his cheek then gave him a quick kiss. Luke's blue eyes widened. Now Flora was blushing too.
"W-we'd better go help the p-professor." Stammered Luke. They got up and walked out of the shop, holding hands.
