You Are The One
It was a crispy cold night and her senior class had decided to make a summer party to remember the good old days.
Hinata Hyuga stood in a corner avoiding the man she loved. She was sure he had been there; she had heard people confirm so but she knew she wasn't strong enough to see him.
She'd known him since she was small, they were always in the same classes and they shared the same group of friends but she never let herself say the words her heart wanted to say, and now it was too late.
He had finally gotten a girl that made him happy; a girl who was not afraid to tell her feelings for him, unlike her.
She watched as her old friends chatted and drank happily. She watched in silence like she had always done, but the mixture of smoke and the never ending thoughts made her dizzy. She needed to get away.
In a quick motion, she wiggled herself out of the room and into a small closet where they got the cake. She allowed herself to breathe and felt relaxed, but then she heard the door open from behind.
"I knew it was you that had come in here," a male said from behind her, making the hair at the back of her neck erect.
She turned around and there he was, standing in front of her, grinning like the first time she had met him.
"How are you?" he asked, stepping closer to her, in which she answered by turning herself the other way.
"I'm fine," she said, her voice almost in soft whisper.
"Hina," he said her name softly making her heart ache. "Did I do something wrong?"
"Why would you ask that?" she asked.
"Well…I know that you and I weren't very close but I know we use to be a lot closer," he said followed by sigh. "I feel like you are avoiding me."
"No," she said, biting her lip. "That's crazy talk." she turned around to face him and felt frozen by just looking at him. She forced herself to smile, just so she could get away from him. "I'm not avoiding you." She was about to pass him but he grabbed her hand and dragged her back. Their eyes met as they looked inside one and other.
"What's wrong Hinata?" he said. "Just tell me what's wrong," he pleaded.
She opened her mouth to lie once again but she could not longer take it. She felt like she was about to blow up and that she did.
"I love you," she whispered.
In pure shock he let her go, giving her the opportunity to run away. Run away from him and run away from her words.
As she walked home, she cried. She cried because he let her go and she cried because she was free.
When she got home, she threw herself in the bed and sobbed until she could barely breathe. It took a couple of hours for the tears to stop. She lay in bed, staring at the white wall in front of her.
Suddenly she heard someone knock on her door. Her eyes glance at the door but she didn't move, she thought that the person at her door would just go away, but she had been wrong.
The knocks grew stronger by the minute until she had no other choice than to answer the door.
In front of her stood a gasping Naruto. She stared at him with surprise but did not dare to say a word. "You… you… ran," he stated between heavy breathes.
"What are you doing here?" she asked.
"What you told me…" he took a deep breath and stared in to her eyes."Was it true?"
"I think you should leave," Hinata quickly said, as she tried to slam the door shut, but he placed his foot in the middle.
"Answer me," he demanded.
"Yes," she admitted. Once again tears began to fall as she looked away, hiding her face away from him. "Please don't look at me!" she cried. "Just leave!"
Naruto smiled softly as he leaned. He brought his hand to his cheek and moved her face close to his. "I love you too," he said.
"I love you too," he repeated.
"But…what about your girlfriend," she whispered.
"Yeah…but Hinata… you are the one," he said with smile. He then sealed the moment with a kiss, throwing away year and years of secret.
At the end of the day, they both got what they had always wished for.
