Ollie downed another shot and took of his tie, throwing it away behind the couch. The guilt of Chloe's death was eating him up making it hard to breath. She had been driving home to meet him after work and had been caught in a car crash. He smirked at the irony of all it. Her dangerous life didn't kill her, a simple car crash did.
Lois and Clark had raced back from their honeymoon, to plan the funeral for her and in all it was beautiful. Reaching for the bottle again, he was stopped by a gently yet strong hand over his. Looking around his eyes meet Dinah's tearful blue eyes, lifting her hand she gently wiped the tears away and took the glass off him. Smiling sightly at her, he wrapped his arm around her shoulder.
'Hey' said Ollie
'Hey to you too, Green Bean' said Dinah smiling and gently kissing his cheek 'how you holding up?'
'I've been better' said Ollie
She nodded and smoothed her black dress across her lap and kicked off her high heels. Curling her feet under her, she rested her head on his shoulder.
Ollie smiled slightly once again as he wrapped his arm tighter around her shoulder 'Come to keep me company?'
Dinah nodded 'Everyone was worried about you, we didn't want you to do anything really stupid, so I came over'
'Thank you' said Ollie
'No problem' said Dinah lifting her head; she smiled at as he smiled back. 'Beside where would the League be without their fearless leader'
'I'm thinking that I should hand the reins over to Clark and take a break for a while' said Ollie 'Try and get my life back on track'
'I'm not going to stop you' said Dinah 'you don't have to worry about my opinion, it's your life feel free to screw it up'
Ollie laughed for the first time in weeks and looked down at the blonde in his arms and she smiled at him and rested her head back on his shoulder.
'Beside Chloe should be back soon, she always finds her way back' said Dinah yawning and closing her eyes.
'Maybe but she usually comes back by now' said Ollie
Dinah mumbled something and relaxed into his arms. After a few minutes her breathing evened out and her body relaxed completely.
'Sweet dreams Pretty Bird' said Ollie 'you earned it'
Looking up he smiled as a gentle breeze came through the slightly open window making Dinah's blond curls fall from the clip that held them back from her face.
Brushing the curls behind her ear, he gently kissed her forehead, smiling as she mumbled in her sleep. Looking up at the window he watched as the sun slowly set of the city of Metropolis, marking the end of a day. Looking over a picture of league that sat on the table Ollie smiled as he slowly traced Chloe's face. 'Sweet dreams to you too Sidekick, where ever you are'
A gently breeze came through the window once again, as if signalling that she had heard him. He smiled again 'I guess this means that you want me to move on then'
The gentle breeze came once again ruffling Dinah's blond hair and dancing across his skin. He looked up as the leaves from one of the trees outside swirled around him and Dinah. 'This is your blessing isn't it?'
The wind picked up as a leaf gently rested on the top of Dinah's head. Ollie smiled and picked it up; it was green and shaped like an arrow. He heard the beating of wings as a little black bird rested on the railing. It chirped once and flew in, grabbing the leaf out of his hand and flew out the window.
'Thank you' said Ollie as the wind picked up again making Dinah shiver slightly. Ollie grabbed the rug that was thrown over the couch and wrapped it around her. She smiled in her sleep as he wrapped his arms around her tighter.
The wind picked up a soft melody as it whistled past his ears. Smiling he closed his eyes and let the melody surround him, slowly letting it lull him to sleep.
A last breeze of wind came through the window gently knocking the picture of the league over, revealing the picture taken last Christmas of Dinah and Ollie smiling at the camera.
