AN: I know it's been a while since I updated last and that this chapter is ridiculously short, but I'm working on a whopper for the next chapter, complete with multiple Harry, Sirius, Remus interactions, a fight between James and Snape over Lily, Padfoot talking to Regulus, McGonagall being protective of Harry, Moody being awesome, flashback scenes, a reconciliation between two characters, and a really cute Ron/Hermione scene. It's pretty epic, but I didn't feel that this scene fit into the next chapter and I DID promise to explain it last chapter so here it is!
Before Fred could start reading Harry grabbed Cedric's arm and pulled him into the room that his mother had stormed into an hour before, Harry stood still for a moment and the room changed to look like the Hufflepuff common room. Cedric looked at him in confusion, "How?..."
Harry smiled weakly at him, "I was invited to a party in my sixth year, got a little bit wild and I ended up seeing more of the carpet than I did the people."
Cedric laughed, "Yeah, Puff parties tend to get a little more out of hand than most." There was an awkward silence for a moment before they both sat down in a comfortable arm chair and stared at the fire.
"What you have to tell me...it's not good is it?" Cedric asked quietly, watching the flames almost numbly, "I mean, I've been thinking about it, and since I'm still in my champion's robes and you're not, it had to be something that happened at the tournament. Harry...the thing with Krum... I didn't go crazy did I? My parents were good friends with the Longbottoms and we visited them a couple times, my mum was broken up enough about it without having to see me in there too...Shit Harry, I'm crazy aren't I?" He rambled hysterically, beginning to shake slightly.
Harry stood up and crossed the distance between them in a few steps, pulling Cedric into a hug, "You're not crazy Ced, although it might have been better that way, at least there's hope for a cure that way."
Cedric pulled back slightly, hastily wiping a few stray tears from his eyes, "Harry, you're kind of scaring me, and that takes a lot after what I've been thinking the past couple of hours."
Harry took a deep breath, "Cedric, on June 24th 1995 four champions went into the maze. One was brought out unconscous and bleeding from her head, another was rushed to the Hospital Wing, suffering from the aftereffects of the Imperious Curse-"
Here Cedric cut him off, "Krum was under the Imperious?"
Harry nodded sadly, "It cut him up for years knowing what he did to you and Fleur."
Cedric sighed, "Well there goes hating him. What happened to us?"
Harry took a deep breath, "One of us came back, half dead shaking from repeated exposure to the Cruciatas Curse...holding the other's body."
Cedric took a shakey breath, "So...That's why I don't remember."
"No, no, I'm fine. It's probably better you know, at least Mum and Dad have some c-c-closure." Then he dissolved into sobs. Harry pulled him back into his arms just as both their legs collapsed beneath them, they knelt on the ground, clutching each other and crying into each other's arms. "Ced, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I shouldn't have told you to take it with me, I should have moved faster, I should have-"
Cedric pulled back vicously and grabbed him by his shoulders hard, "Haryy don't blame yourself for this, I'm seventeen, I knew what I was signing up for when I put my name in that cup. You were fourteen, had half my knowledge, and I wasn't your responsibility. " Harry was steadfastedly looking away, refusing to make eye contact.
Cedric sighed, "Harry look at me." Grudgingly, he did so. "Harry, I don't blame you, this wasn't your fault, it was whoever set all this up and turned their wand on me."
Harry nodded and laughed weakly, "It all leads back to him doesn't it? My parents, the Longbottoms, the Prewetts, the Bones, so many people because he wanted power."
Cedric paled even more before taking a calming breath, "Well at least I can say I got killed off by the most powerful Dark Wizard in centuries, at least that's something."
Harry nodded silently and the two of them sat there together for a while, not talking, just being content with the fact that they were with the one person who could truly understand them.
AN:Love it? Hate it? If you're so inclined tell me, if not, I'm just happy that you're enjoying the story and the fact that the stats for this story show that people keep coming back to read it makes me very happy :) because I recently adopted this story, PM me if you spot any discrepancies so I can fix them, thanks!
