"Tobi is a good boy, Zet-kun," Tobi chirped happily that morning, hugging Zetsu tightly, greeting his best friend as he usually did in the mornings.
Zetsu smiled as he patted Tobi's hair gently. "We know you are," Shiroi said quietly.
"Zet-kun thinks so, too!" Tobi squealed happily, clapping his hands together in excitement as he bounced from one foot to the other.
"Run along and play, Tobi-kun," Zetsu reached out and gently pushed Tobi out of the living room, watching with a large smile as the boy run somewhere else in the base.
Though Zetsu truly loved his subordinate, Tobi was holding a secret that even said boy didn't know about.
Elsewhere in the base, just minutes after Tobi had disappeared from Zetsu's sight, Pein jumped in surprise when the door flew open. 'Tobi' stormed in, his usually cheerful expression murderous and his onyx eyes now shining blood-red – a Mangekyou Sharingan.
Madara had reemerged, and he looked pissed.
"What's wrong, Madara-sama?" Pein asked carefully, knowing that when Madara was in a mood someone usually got hurt – and that someone normally was Pein himself.
"You know damn well what's wrong!" Madara shouted, running towards the ginger-haired man and backhanding Pein across the face. "It's Zetsu!"
Pein sighed, rubbing his now-sore cheek, and he frowned at the Uchiha. "Why don't you just tell him the truth?"
"He'll hate me!" Madara threw his hands up in the air dramatically, distress in his normally angry voice.
"No, he won't," Pein insisted. "Zetsu isn't like that. He won't hate you for using Tobi's body as a vessel. He's not that like. He'll at least try and understand."
"That's easy for you to say - you're not the one in my position!" Madara shouted angrily once more.
"You're right, I'm not..." Pein said quietly, his purple-ringed eyes shining just as dangerously as Madara's blood-red ones. "I'm not the one lying to him every day because I'm too scared to tell him the truth. Get out of my office, you coward."
Madara opened his mouth to reply back, his eyes flashing dangerously, but before he could retort, he suddenly froze, his Sharingan fading in onyx, and his body swayed slowly before stilling once more.
"Pein-sama..." Tobi – who had finally reemerged once more - whimpered, holding his aching head. "What happened?"
"Nothing..." Pein said softly, knowing better than to tell Tobi the truth. "Go back to bed, Tobi"
Tobi nodded, still holding his throbbing head. "Okay, Pein-sama."
With that, Tobi turned and left the office, heading to his own bedroom, leaving Pein to his thoughts.
Zetsu's gold eyes opened in the darkness as his bedroom door was opened again. He growled quietly. This was the third time his door had been opened, interrupting his sleep. The first time, Tobi had left the room without telling Zetsu where he was going (Zetsu assumed he had to go to the bathroom). Then, fifteen minutes later, he comes back in – literally jumping onto the bed and snuggling in close – Zetsu had wrapped his arms around the smaller male, holding him close.
Now, someone else was coming in. Golden eyes travelled to the clock, reading the time: 3.27AM.
"What?" Zetsu growled quietly, sitting up to glare at the intruder.
"Relax." Pein whispered, stepping into the room. "There's a big fight outside the base between some Sand and Rain Shinobi; I'm just checking that everyone is alright."
Zetsu nodded in understanding; Pein was just worried for his subordinates. Zetsu nodded to Pein as the ginger bid him good night, and Zetsu climbed out of the bed seconds later, accidentally jostling the young boy around as he did so, but Tobi didn't stir. Zetsu stretched and sat down at his desk, switching the lamp on and moving the light out of Tobi's face
As Zetsu turned back to his desk to go over his latest mission report, he heard a mumble from Tobi.
"Zet-kun..." Tobi moaned breathlessly, panting heavily. "M-more..."
Zetsu's eyes were wide as he heard this. What was Tobi dreaming about? Before Tobi could say more, Zetsu had already fled from the room, genuinely frightened; it reminded him of how his old village once used him as a child before Pein rescued him. Zetsu's mind was blurred in fear, unable to think coherently, and before he knew it he found himself pounding away on Pein's bedroom door, begging to be let in.
Zetsu heard frantic footsteps running to the door on the other side of it, and said item was flung open by both Pein and Konan, worry etched onto their faces.
"What's wrong, sweetie?" Konan asked gently as Pein pulled his subordinate into the bedroom, helping him over and onto the edge of the bed.
"T-t-tobi..." Zetsu muttered, his eyes out of focus. "…"
"What about him...?" Pein asked warily, biting his lip. What if Madara had tried to take advantage of Zetsu?
"H-he was... having a... w-w..." He couldn't speak anymore; he just broke down in tears.
"Hey...!" Pein whispered, knowing Zetsu had good reason to be scared, but Pein didn't know how to comfort him. "Zetsu..."
"Let him sleep with us, tonight, Pein." Konan said quietly, smiling sadly at Zetsu.
Pein agreed, creating a make-shift bed for Zetsu, but it seemed that no matter what the Akatsuki leader did for his subordinate, Zetsu would not relax and go to sleep.
Judging by the way Zetsu only seemed to be uneasy and upset was when Pein wasn't near him, the ginger knew that the only way to get Zetsu to sleep was by resting near him. The man wasn't surprised when Zetsu fell asleep just moments after the older member laid down next to him for the night.
The next morning was eventful for Zetsu. He left the bedroom with Pein, heading to breakfast together, but they stopped when they saw that Tobi already in the kitchen. Zetsu whimpered as he saw everything he suffered as a child flash right before his eyes.
Tobi looked up at Zetsu. "Good morning, Zet-kun!" he cried happily.
Zetsu shook his head, trying to back away, but Pein had grabbed a tight hold on his arm, keeping him in place. He nudged the younger male forwards, trying to stop him from leaving the kitchen.
Tobi tilted his head. "What's wrong with Zet-kun? Is Zet-kun sick?"
"Tobi," Pein began gently, ignoring Tobi's question, "I need you to be a good boy and tell me what you were dreaming about last night. Can you do that for Leader-sama?"
Tobi nodded his head happily. "Tobi had a dream that Zet-kun was touching Tobi's boy parts and it felt so good, Pein-sama! Zet-kun even used his mouth on Tobi! Tobi knows Zet-kun wouldn't touch Tobi there but Tobi wishes Zet-kun would! Tobi really liked the feeling! But... when Tobi woke up he was sticky and dirty... Tobi didn't like that part..."
Zetsu had by now buried his face in Pein's chest, trying to block out Tobi's words; he knew Tobi was young and didn't understand but Tobi's words were frightening to him; why would Tobi want him to molest him? God, that kid really needed his head examined...
"Have you ever had that kind of dream before, Tobi?" Pein was calm as he addressed the situation; as leader of Akatsuki he had an obligation to make sure his subordinates were safe and happy in their environment.
Tobi shook his head. "Nope! But if that feeling happens in real life, too, then Tobi wishes someone would touch him there to make him feel like that in real life! Oh! Pein-sama! Can Tobi touch himself to get the feeling?"
Zetsu gasped angrily, rushing forward and slapping Tobi across the face. Tobi fell off his chair from the impact, holding his now-sore cheek, his eyes filling with tears.
He looked to Pein. "Did… Did Tobi do something bad…?"
Pein looked sadly at Tobi; he knew Tobi's words had triggered an episode in Zetsu, judging by the way Zetsu was now staring at his hands, tears of his own falling, before the other male left the room in a hurry.
"Can I talk to you in my office, Tobi?" Pein asked gently. "Maybe someone should have told you about this a long time ago, but…" he sighed. "Tobi, just please come into my office."
Tobi whimpered and nodded, his tears falling as he followed the older man away. It wasn't a long walk to the office, but the silence on the trip made it feel as if it were taking forever to Tobi. When they finally stepped inside and Pein had shut the door behind them, Tobi almost sighed in relief.
"Sit down, Tobi-kun," Pein said gently, gesturing to the seat in front of his desk.
Tobi obeyed and Pein sat in his own chair, eyeing Tobi cautiously; he had a feeling he knew what was going on here, and the culprit was Madara.
"Tobi, let me ask you a couple of questions, please," Pein began softly. Tobi nodded. "First of all, do you know of anyone named Madara?"
Tobi thought long and hard about this, before eventually getting distracted and forgetting all about the question.
"Can Tobi have a pet, Pein-sama?" Tobi asked innocently, trying his best to look cute, having accidentally forgotten why he was even in the office.
Pein sighed and shook his head. "Think, Tobi. Madara. Have you heard of him?"
"Oh! Umm… Tobi doesn't think so…"
Pein shook his head; so Tobi was completely clueless in the fact that he was host to Madara.
"Moving on… what do you know about sex, Tobi?"
"Sex? What's 'sex', Pein-sama?"
Pein sighed in annoyance; the kid has lived in a base filled with horny males for years and didn't know anything about sex!
"Okay, Tobi…" Pein knew that, as leader, it was his obligation to inform Tobi about sex.
However, seeing as Madara was intruding on Tobi's dreams and turning them into smut-fests, Tobi would probably be an expert soon enough.
A/N Just in case you weren't following, Madara was able to manipulate Tobi's dreams and that's why Tobi was having such smutty dreams.
I know Madara didn't really show up much in this chapter but this one is really only the beginning, and I promise there will be lots more Madara in the next chapters (Tobi is just too cute to leave out completely, but I'm planning something to fit both Tobi and Madara in at the same time anyway).
