"You know, Vayne, I once dreamed of my life being fairy-tale-like. Well, romanticly fairy-tale-like..."
Vayne nodded silently, his eyes still trained on the blue cauldron. "Mm-hmm."
"But that's when I was 4!" Jess added, defensively. A giggle escaped her lips, "But, you know, Vayne, you are not really a princely-type, aren't you?"
A small smile painted on Vayne's face, still not bothering to snatch a glance at the pinkette. "Yeah, I guess."
Jess sighed inwardly, flopped herself down the wooden chair, gazing emptily at the wall across of her, "I mean...your powers are dark-themed and all...". She stole a quick look at the male-uniform clad boy as she sighed again.
Jess continues her muses, on and on, and the boy patiently listening her (childish) rant, "...Well, not to hurt your feelings or anything, but you are far from those hot-blooded prince, after all, Vayne..."
The clock ticked, and a minute passed.
"...Umm, Jess," Vayne began, (without facing her, of course.) "If I couldn't be the prince , then, is it okay for me to be the evil magician or the ogre who's role is to monopolize (to protect) the princess (you)?"
Jess blinked, then quickly turned her head to the ashen-gray-haired alchemist-in-training, not believing what she had heard. That was rare for Vayne to said something like that. And that was very out-of-character of him.
"...Sorry," Said Vayne, though, no small chuckles nor smiles surfaced this time, "...I found that line in a book Flay gave me, and thought I could pull the phrase. Sorry, that was weird..."
Jess felt like her heart paced in the usual speed again, as the weight on her shoulders slowly evaporating away. She thought that Flay (or to some degree, Nikki) purposely drugged him with aphrodisiac or something. That would be crime, of course, staining black paints across Vayne's...pure heart.
She regrets (glads) tried to pick up that conversation.
A/N: Yes, I am a terrible writer. I'm more into drabble, really.
Disclaimer: I don't own Mana Khemia.
...Wow, I can't believe that I left the title un-capitalized. That's very new to me. (And did I just killed Vayne's character? Now I'm feeling guilty...)
Review or concrit greatly appreciated.
