Harry Potter rolled over and noticed that the other side of the bed he shared with his wife was empty. He could see sunlight streaming in through the curtains of their bedroom windows. Blearily, he rubbed his eyes and reached up on his nightstand for his glasses. He fumbled around for a bit, unable to find them, and knocking over a glass of water in the process. Grabbing his wand, he Summoned his glasses from under his pillow and Vanished the spilled water. He rolled out of bed, barely avoided stepping on the cat.
The smell of bacon was floating upstairs and Harry followed it to the kitchen where his wife was cooking breakfast. He walked up behind her, sliding his arms around her waist, burying his face in her hair. He inhaled deeply, she smelled like roses and vanilla. It always comforted him. He kissed her cheek.
"Well, good morning to you too, Mr. Potter," she said, laughing.
"Good morning, Mrs. Potter," he smiled. "Even after six months, I still love saying it."
Hermione turned around, sliding her arms around her husband's neck. "I love it when you say it," she said, kissing him lightly on the lips.
He kissed her back, smiling and loving every second of it. She pulled away after a few seconds though, telling him, "If you want your breakfast to not be burned, I need to tend to it." Reluctantly, he released her and fixed himself a cup of tea.
A few minutes later, they sat down at the table together, Hermione Levitating two plates of bacon and eggs with scones. Harry carried their tea.
They ate in agreeable almost silence, just talking about the little things as they often did. Until, that is, Hermione said, "Love, I need to tell you something."
Harry's throat went dry as he tried to swallow his bite of scone. He took a drink of his tea. "What's that?"
"Well, you know how I've felt sick to my stomach the last few days?" She said, pushing a bit of egg around her plate.
"I thought it was just a little stomach bug, that's what you said anyway." Harry was beginning to become concerned for his wife's health.
"Well, that's what I thought too. Until the other day when I was at my parent's house and my mum was talking about my Cousin Elisabeth's new baby. Then, she started telling me about how she felt before she knew she was pregnant with me and I decided to go to my doctor. My appointment was yesterday."
Harry looked at her expectantly. "And?"
She smiled somewhat bashfully. "We're having a baby."
Harry leapt up from his chair, all but forgetting about his breakfast, and grabbed his wife in a fierce hug. "I love you, Hermione Jane Potter, with all my heart."
She squealed as he picked her up and swung her around.
"I love you too, Harry James Potter." She wrinkled her nose at him, trying to be cute and succeeding.
He bent down and lifted up his wife's shirt to kiss her deceptively flat belly. "And I love you too."
His life has just gotten ten times better.
