Roxanne looked up and saw Megamind already waiting for her at their table. It was exactly the same as she remembered, only better, because Megamind wasn't Bernard now; he was him. As she went to sit down, Megamind stood and pulled her chair out for her. She smiled. "Thank you."
"My pleasure," he purred, and sat down in his seat across from her. He had obviously put so much into this date; Roxanne was surprised. It was a year after everything had happened, a year after the night she found out he was Bernard, and after all this time, and all the assurance that he didn't have to, Megamind still wanted to make it up to her. He had been here hours earlier to arrange the tables just so, to find the exact tablecloths and napkins that had been used, even the same type and color of candles. There wasn't a thing out of place, and Roxanne almost felt like they had gone back in time, only this time Megamind was himself, not Bernard...
"Did you ever rehydrate Bernard?" Roxanne asked.
"He fell out in the waush," Megamind said, nodding, and even though Roxanne knew he was being serious, she laughed lightly, partially from the straight look on his face, and partially from the way he said "wash". His speech was definitely better, but not perfect.
The night went perfectly, without a hitch or drawback or fluke; the perfect date. It was exactly what Megamind had been waiting for.
"Roxanne," Megamind said, reaching into his jacket. "There's something I want to ask you..."
"Megamind, I told you, you really didn't have to do all this," Roxanne told him. "And if-"
"No, not that. I've been thinking, and we've been dating for a little more than a year now, and I know that isn't very long to some people, but I want to spend the rest of my life with you and-" Megamind stopped, realizing that he was rambling, and he put on his mission face, suddenly determined to finally ask her and get it off his chest. "Roxanne," he said, getting down on one knee, "Would you-Would you be...Would you marry me?" he asked, opening a small black felt box and revealing a ruby-ring with a sapphire swirl through the center.
Roxanne didn't react at first, and Megamind felt nervous and anxious. Then she broke out beaming, her face almost shooting moonbeams. "Yes!" she cried, throwing herself down on the floor with him. "Yes, I'll marry you! Nothing would make me happier!" Megamind couldn't believe his ears. They were engaged! They were getting married!
"I love you Roxanne Ritchi," Megamind told her, hugging her fiercely to him.
"I love you, too," then, after a second of thought, she added, "Mr. Ritchi."
Author comments: Because I simply can. XDXD, dA comments:
Just a little blurb I wrote because I wanted more Megamind. :D I like the ending part, and no, he probably won't take her last name, but since he doesn't HAVE a last name, couldn't you see Roxanne jokingly referring to him as Mr. Ritchi? I don't know about you, but I could. Megamind (c) the geniuses down at DreamWorks, and yes, I know he should be giving her a diamond for engagement, but I think a sapphire within a ruby means more. It has more symbolic meaning, you know? =P
