Chapter six - Unwanted

A/N - Backtracked a bit :)

Gerard's POV

Alex turned to go back upstairs, and I called out to her, "I'll be there in a second." I needed to tell the guys that she was coming back with us. I made my way out to the bus with Frank, and when we got there, the door was open. Its was quite hot out. I entered the bus, and went looking for the guys. I found them up the back playing the PlayStation. I cleared my throat, and they all looked up, Ray pressing the pause button on the controller.

"Hey," Ray said.

"Uh, guys I have some news," I told them, cutting straight to the point.

"What is it?" Mikey asked. I knew he was still not too sure about Alex, and I also knew he wasn't going to take the news very well.

"Um, Alex is coming to stay with me for the summer, and she is coming back with us," I told them, and I saw Mikey's expression change from interest to anger. "What Mikey?" I asked him, fed up with his behaviour. "What the fuck is your problem?"

"Well first of all, you don't even know this girl, and now she coming to live with you?" he cried, and it took all of my strength not to hit him.

"She's my daughter!" I reminded, furious.

"And how many times have you met her?" he asked quietly, and right then, I swear I wanted to hurt him more than I ever had in my entire life.

"YOU DON'T THINK I DON'T WANT TO GET TO KNOW HER?" he retaliated. "OF COURSE I FUCKUNG DO, BUT DON'T YOU THINKS IT'S A LITTLE LATE? SHE NEARLY SEVENTEEN, WHAT MAKES YOU THINK SHE WANTS TO KNOW YOU?" His words stung, and it made me even more furious at him. I couldn't take it anymore, I had to get out of there.

"Get fucked Mikey," I said calmly.

"No big brother, you get fucked." And with that I stormed out of the bus, to see Alex standing there, with a shocked look on her face.

"Alex," I said in surprise. "I thought you.. You didn't hear any of that did you?" I asked, motioning to the bus.

"Uh, no, I just got here when you came out," she answered, but there was something in her eyes that told me she wasn't telling the truth. I was about to ask her about it when someone stepped out of the bus.

"Gee," said Frank's voice from behind me. "Oh, Alex, how long have you been standing there?"

"Not long," she lied again. She looked down, looking like she was about to cry. I wanted to wrap my arms around her and tell her everything was okay. "I'll just go back inside." She said turning. I wanted to reach out to her, but I stayed where I was.

"Alex wait," Frank said, moving forward so he was in front of me. Alex turned, and a look of surprise crossed her face. She had been expecting me. "It's not what you think," he tried, but Alex just smiled a fake smile.

"It's okay," she said, getting ready to turn again. "I have to go talk to my Mum." she turned and headed back to her house, leaving me and Frank standing there.

"FUCK." I cussed rather loudly, winding my hands through my bright red hair.

"Gee, she will be okay," Frank assured me. I didn't say anything, knowing different. "Forget Mikey, he's a fucktard," he tried, but I still didn't say anything. Maybe Mikey was right. I had seen Alex cry so many times that day. I brought sadness with me wherever I went.

Alex's POV

As soon as I was out of sight, the tears started pouring. I ran back to the house and up to my room. I threw myself down on my bed and tried to stop crying, but nothing would work. I could hear footsteps outside my room, so I got up and ran to my bathroom and locked the door behind me. Sure enough, I heard my bedroom door being opened, and soon after Gerard's voice filled the air.

"Alex?" he asked, sounding unsure of something. "Alex are you in here?"

No, I thought, mentally willing him to leave. It was quiet for a moment, and I thought he was about to leave. But no, I had to fuck even that up. I moved back and knocked my straightener off the bench where it sat from this morning. It fell to the floor with a loud crash.

"Alex," he said, and I could hear him running to the door of my bathroom, which was just across from my bed. There was a knock. Well, not really a knock, more of a bang. "Alex, I know you're in there, please open the door." I stayed silent. "Alex." I could hear him growing angry, and I didn't want him to be angry at me, so I opened the door. The look of relief on his face was noticeable. I just stood there, not saying anything.

"Alex, please don't hate me," he said, and I stared at him in shock.

"Hate you?" I asked. "I could never hate you, never." a smile broke out on his face. I walked forward and wrapped my arms around him. I didn't cry, I'm pretty sure I had used up all of my tears that day.

"Have you finished packing?" he asked into my hair. I nodded into his chest, but didn't moved. I wanted to stay like that forever, and never let go.

"Well we have a show in Melbourne tonight, then we have to drive to Sydney for a show tomorrow night, and then we'll catch a plane back to Jersey," he told me, his arms still firmly in place. All of a sudden my phone started buzzing in my back pocket, making me jump. Gerard laughed as he let me go. I looked at the caller ID. It was Darcy. Shit, I thought. Could I tell him? Was I even allowed to?

"Darcy!" I said into my phone after pressing the answer button. If you don't remember who Darcy was, he was my best friend, the one who was completely obsessed with My Chemical Romance.

"Hey Alex," he said on the other end of the line.

"What's up?" I asked him, my voice trembling slightly. It was extremely difficult to act like everything was normal, when, in fact, my life had been turned upside-down.

"Uh, well, I have a surprise for you!" he said excitedly. Please don't be what I think it is. "I have tickets to My Chemical Romance," FUCK! "They're playing tonight, which means they are in Melbourne now!" He was so excited, and he would hate me forever if I didn't tell him. I looked up at Gerard, asking for permission with my eyes. He gave an apologetic smile, but nodded.

"Darcy, I have something I need to tell you," I said hesitantly.

"You don't sound excited, why aren't you excited?" he sounded upset.

"Look, just meet me at mine in twenty minutes, I promise I'll explain everything," and with that I hung up.

"He's a fan," Gerard said. I nodded, putting my head down. He was going to freak the fuck out, but if I didn't tell him, he would hate me forever. "He'll understand." He hugged my shoulders, and kissed me on the temple.
