NEVER TOO LATE
A POWER RANGERS STORY
AN: I had a failed attempt to try and write a Power Rangers fanfic when I was a little younger. Didn't quite work out… But I feel older and have matured as a writer so I would love to give this another go… I would like to thank Saban for creating the show and thank you Netflix for putting it all on instant queue recently. Title is attributed to the song by Three Days Grace, but has nothing to do with the songs meaning it's merely a statement to reference not giving up on something or someone… This story is going to take place during "A Different Shade of Pink" in season 3 and it will go on from there. I will probably make references to other episodes so if you aren't very familiar with the shows progression or episodes I will try to fill in as much as I can. Also comments and reviews would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all for reading and enjoy! Also. My math might be a little off with the dates but just go with it…
The Youth Center
March 3, 1996
It seemed far too coincidental to Kim that just as she had started to train with Coach Schmidt, Rita and Zedd had begun their frequent assaults on Angel Grove making her life a living hell. Time after time she had been summoned to fight; leaving her coach and training behind without being able to explain why only to arrive and have them disappear; wasting valuable training time. It was starting to take a toll on her both physically and mentally.
"Hey, good work Kim!" The white ranger complimented getting off his shark cycle. Kim stumbled off hers panting heavily feeling her chest beginning to close up. She felt faint and her body inside the ranger suit felt more warm than usual.
"Hey! What's wrong? Are you okay?" Tommy asked rushing to her said the rest of her fellow rangers grouping beside them.
"Yeah. I think so I'm just really exhausted…" She said attempting to catch her breath.
"Look… it's going to be okay… just calm down alright? Take a deep breath…" He coaxed his girlfriend. He had never seen her like this. He was worried. Everyone knew that she was being terribly overworked the strain was getting to be too much for her. It was only a matter of time before it would take its toll on her for the worse. Kim felt her body sway slightly, her face went pale beneath her helmet and her eyes rushed to the back of her head. Kim fell in the direction of the white ranger and he caught her in his arms.
"Kim? Kimberly!" He panicked attempting to revive her. Her body went limp in his arms.
"Thanks for dropping me off." Kim said as they pulled into the Youth Center.
"Are you sure you're going to be alright?" He asked gripping the stirring wheel. Kim gave the look he knew all too well.
"You worry too much…"
"I am worried about you. We all are…"
"I'll be fine. Okay?" She smiled faintly before kissing him good-night and heading off into the gym.
Kim wasted no time jumping into her beam routine she had wasted so much time already she couldn't afford to miss more… While practicing her mind went other places. Kim could recall how tentative her boyfriend was even more so now that they had taken their relationship to the next level. Maybe he had exaggerated the whole thing with everyone being worried about her… it wouldn't be the first time… Kim placed her foot in front of the other trying to keep her balance. One sudden move sent her stomach doing cartwheels. Kim rushed to the bathroom and emptied the contents of her stomach. Kim slumped to the ground beside the toilet holding her knees under her chin.
Maybe Tommy was right? Maybe all of the training and my ranger duties was starting to take its toll on me?
Kim recovered herself and made her way back to the gym to continue practicing her routine. Kim attempted to concentrate to no avail and her vision began to blur. Kim took one wrong step stumbling, before falling off completely. Her head hit the floor beneath her hard and the world around her began to fade.
"Kim!" She heard a faint voice yell before everything went black.
AN: So that was the first chapter a lot of it was quotes that were actually in the show other scenes were paraphrased others were just the way I want things to be… This first chapter was short but needed. Thanks for reading! Reviews greatly appreciated.
