A/N: Sam and Rosie one-shot. Cuz I love them, that's why. Very short, and super dumb, no plot whatsoever, but... I was bored, and I haven't updated "A Step Away" in forever.

Rosie sat at the kitchen table peeling potatoes for dinner when her husband came in. She smiled up at him and continued her work. Sam was in no mood for such greetings. He came up behind her and kissed her cheek.

Rose laughed. "Now, what have I done to deserve this?" she asked him.

"Absolutely everything!" he exclaimed happily. "Now, you let me finish those potatoes, and sit back. I'm going to tell you a story."

"Oh?" she wondered, handing over the bowl and remaining taters. "Which story? I know I've heard them all before."

Sam shook his head. "You haven't heard this one. This one is called 'The First Time Sam Knew He Loved Rosie.'"

Rose grinned. "Is it a true story?"

"Aye, most of mine are. Now, it was only a short while ago, and it was in this very kitchen that it all began. I was out in the garden watering Mr. Frodo's roses you see. Mr. Frodo, he'd had a bad, bad night, and he wasn't feeling too well. He had come into the kitchen to get something to eat, he had, and you had stopped by to see me. But you didn't come around to the gardens when you realized I wasn't inside. No, you stayed in the kitchen, and you got Mr. Frodo some tea and some of those seedcakes he's so fond of. I heard you talking to him, and I decided since you were here, I'd best come in and give you a hello kiss. When I came into the kitchen though, you had Mr. Frodo sitting right where I am now. You'd got a blanket and put it on his shoulders to keep him warm, and you were scolding him! You were scolding him just like you were his mother and he was no more than a tween! You were telling him that he had to be careful and rest himself and that he was spending too much time away from everyone and everything. 'You need to get out of that study more often, Mr. Frodo,' you said. And I watched you. You looked stern, but you were being gentle. You knew he was above your station, but you were still telling him what to do because you cared about him, almost as much as I did, I think. And then, you looked up and saw me. You smiled, and I knew right then that you were the only one I would ever be in love with."

"Samwise Gamgee," Rosie said, grinning from ear to ear. "I love you."

"And I love you, Rose-lass."

A/N: Honestly, the more I think about this, the more I dislike it. Of course, I did just throw it together two minutes ago. I haven't even proofread it, so sorry for all the spelling and grammar mistakes. Perhaps one day when I actually have time, I'll come back to this and work to improve it. Until then, goodbye, my fanfiction friends.
