DeRanged here! I know I'm still on Pride's Hatchling but this story has been in my notebook for a while and I just had to get peoples opinions on it! Hope you enjoy and know that J. and Stephanie Meyer own all rights to the charaters but I own the story line so there! XP
Severus Snape made his way quickly up the walk way, making sure he wasn't followed. When he was sure he thought of the address and a small cottage appeared. He quickly stepped inside, shutting the door just as quickly behind him. When he turned around he was met with the tip of a want pointed at his face until it lowered to his chest giving him a view of the emerald eyed teen behind it, eyeing him suspiciously.
"During the war the Golden Trio had nicknames for each other. What were they?" he asked firmly, his wand not wavering and glowing threateningly.
Severus didn't even pause to think, "Mr. Weasley was Greed, Ms. Granger was Envy, and you Mr. Potter were Wrath," he stated evenly.
Harry Potter gave a sigh of relief and lowered his wand, "I had to be sure. Have you gotten the paperwork?" he asked, placing his wand behind his ear imitating his late sister Luna Lovegood.
Severus pulled out the necessary papers they would need to get out of the country undetected by the Ministry of Magic and set up citizenship in the United States of America. Harry launched himself at the retired Potion's Master and hugged him around the waist. A gentle, loving smile came to Severus' face as he hugged the young man that had become much like a son to him in the years of war that had passed. They stayed there for a while in a peaceful silence, soaking up the reassurance and comfort that came from each other's embraces.
"Is Poppy home Daddy?" a small, tired voice came from behind Harry.
Harry turned, pulling out of Severus' embrace and both looked to see Teddy sitting up on the couch, his little fists rubbing his eyes tiredly. Loving smiles came to both of their faces, this three-year-old boy was their only reason left for living besides each other. He brought light to their otherwise dark lives and pushed away all of the horrible memories of the war. All the others they had come to love and claim as family had died in the recent war and the new creature laws put into place by the Ministry weren't helping their want to stay. It was worse for Severus considering he was a Dark Elf, but Harry still had it pretty bad being a Royal Elf on his father's side.
"He's right here Cub. I'm sure if you hurry and brush your teeth and get dressed for bed he won't mind tucking you in for the night," Harry told the boy gently walking over and running loving hands through his sandy brown hair, exactly like his fathers.
Teddy's amber eyes lit up and before they could blink they could hear his small feet pattering up the stairs. They shared a fond look and quiet laughter as they followed close behind, packing any things left over and turning off the lights. As Severus headed up to tuck in Teddy Harry checked the wards one more time to make sure the timer was still in place and they wouldn't fall until they were well into their flight to the States. He made his way up the steps when he found them secure, making his way to his godson's bedroom in the small home. He couldn't help but notice how much Teddy looked like his late father Remus Lupin but how he was almost a clone of his mother Nymphadora Tonks-Lupin in personality. He remembered the day Remus and Tonks had come to him with the news. The parents-to-be proud faces, Tonks' tired grin as she held her son for the first time, Remus crying happily as he held his son for the first time, their pale faces as they were buried together, and watching Teddy sleep peacefully the night after the funeral.
"Harry," Severus' voice broke him from his revere and he was surprised to find himself standing in front of his godson's door. He sent Severus a questioning glance, "Teddy wants his Daddy to tell him a story," the dark man said gently, giving the twenty-year-old man an understanding smile.
Harry gave a grin, knowing that Remus and Tonks would be happy if they knew the way things had turned out after their death. The young youth walked in and smiled at the sight of Teddy wrapped in a nest of blankets, staring out at him expectantly. Harry gave a chuckle and he walked over silently before sitting on the bed and kicking off his shoes. He pulled his legs to stretch out on the small twin bed and leaned back on the headboard behind him. He waited patiently as Teddy quickly went about un-tucking himself covering Harry with the blankets as well. When he was sure his Daddy was covered he quickly went back to laying down, cuddling into his Daddy's side and looking up at him with wide, expectant eyes. Warmth filled Harry's heart and he was sure his skin was glowing as his magic reacted to the love that filled him as he wrapped his arms around the boy that had quickly wormed his way into his heart and became his son.
"What story will it be tonight Teddy-bear?" Harry asked, running his fingers through his son's hair as he inhaled the boys scent, baby powder and brown sugar.
Severus stood leaning on the door jamb just watching as his remaining family interacted, "The Marauders!" he suddenly felt his heart sink.
Harry had noticed his father-figure's face fall and quickly had an idea. He quickly settled down. "Alright our story begins on the Hogwarts express, where four unsuspecting boys were destined to meet," he started, his voice deep and soothing as he spoke.
"The first boy was quiet, shy and didn't have any friends. In fact he was amazed he was even accepted into Hogwarts. You see this boy had what he and his friends later came to call it a "furry little problem", he was a werewolf. His name was Remus John Lupin and the Marauders called him Moony." At the mention of the name Teddy's eyes widened in recognition.
Harry smiled warmly, "That's right Little Bear, you first Daddy. Now the next boy was slightly spoiled but loyal to the bone and brave to a fault. He grew up in a warm family and hadn't had many bad things happen to him. His name was James Harrison Potter and the Marauders called him Prongs because of his Animagus form of a stag," here Teddy's eyes widened again.
Harry chuckled, "Right again Cub that is my first Daddy and your other grandpa besides Poppy. Now the third boy was what you would call the black sheep of his family, or more along the lines of white sheep considering his families lineage. You see his family was dark and was always in Slytherin. Now this particular house wasn't bad but it wasn't particularly good either Cub. But you see this boy was different he was kind, a little hot headed from his high standing, but kind and loyal to all those he called friends and family. He had your back in a fight whether you were arguing or not. His name was Sirius Orion Black or Padfoot for his Grim Animagus form. And he was your Uncle Siri and my godfather." Teddy nodded tiredly; fighting off a yawn he loved hearing this story.
Harry took a deep breath and his eyes met Severus', "Now the final boy had a rough home life. You see he was a half-blood and his father despised magic and made sure his son knew about it. He was given the dirtiest cloths and fed very little, but he had his mother who loved him dearly to the day she died. She gave him one more thing before she left the world, and that was his practice in Potions." Harry saw Severus catching on to what he was doing, "You see this boy was a strategist and always came out on top because of it, but once you became his friend you never stopped. He protected you to the very end and was there when you needed someone to rant to. His name was Severus Tobias Snape and he was named Shadow because of his phoenix form."
Teddy jumped up excitedly, "That's Poppy!" he squealed.
Severus' eyes watered slightly from where he was listening in on the story, his son had given him the best gift in the world. He had given him Teddy's admiration and love. Harry laughed softly and smiled lovingly to Severus before helping Teddy to settle back onto his chest comfortably, "Right Cub, now these completely different boys formed an unlikely but amazing friendship in the short time it took to get to Hogwarts. By the time they were riding the boats they were already brothers. Now they were separated when Poppy was sorted into Slytherin, but that didn't deter their friendship or their brotherhood. Soon enough they were known as the pranking kings of the school. No one knew who the Marauders were, none of the students, none of the teachers, and even Albus Dumbledore was clueless to the identities of these pranksters!"
Harry continued telling of the Marauders' adventures at Hogwarts and their amazing pranks that still lived on in legend. He told of the first time they became Animagus' for Remus on the night of the full moon. Of the making of the Marauders Map and so much more. He only stopped when he heard the light snores coming from his son. With a fond smile he quickly maneuvered him onto his pillows and snuck out from beneath the covers, quickly tucking them back around his son to make sure he was warm. Leaning down he gave the boy a kiss on the forehead and stepped back, content in watching him sleep for a bit just as a reassurance he was safe and protected. After a few more moments of watching him he snuck out of the room stealthily, using all his training from the war so as not to wake his son from his peaceful dreams. He shut the door quietly behind him, leaving it cracked a bit before turning to head to his own room after turning on the night light that was situated in the hall way.
He ran straight into Severus however, who was staring at him, onyx eyes full of unshed tears but serious as they had been during the battles, "Why?" was all he said.
For a moment Harry thought about playing it off as being clueless but thought better of it, "Because he deserves to think you and I were always close. Because he deserves to think you were always close to my father, his father, and my godfather. Because he deserves to think you were always there waiting for him. And because it should have been that way."
A silence fell over them for a moment before Harry found himself in a familiar warm embrace, surrounded by fatherly love and pride. After a moment of basking in each other's warmth and love Severus pulled back and kissed him on his scar. Tears came to Harry's eyes at the sight of the love and pride that filled the man's onyx eyes.
"I am so proud of you Harry James Potter. And I want you to know should you ever want to you may take my name, or I could take yours but know this you will always be my son."
Tears fell down Harry's face at these words and he quickly snuggled into Severus' chest, letting them fall. After he was sure he could speak without sobbing he whispered, "If you don't mind could you take my last name. It's all I have left of my birth parents and I want to keep that link. I love you Dad," when Severus heard that small whisper he had to bite back his own tears.
Clearing his throat Severus stepped back and wiped Harry's tears from his cheeks and kissed him once more over his scar, "Lily and James would be so proud of you," he whispered before pushing him towards his room, "Now go get some sleep. I'll turn on the light, you need to be up bright and early for the Gringotts visit."
Harry gave a watery chuckle before turning and going into his room, shutting the door partly behind him. "Sweet dream son, I love you." Severus whispered before turning and going into his own room.
In his room Harry smiled as he heard Severus' whisper and mouthed 'I love you too' to the quiet, dark room before pushing off the wall beside the door shucking his clothes into the hamper beside the bathroom door. He fell on top of the sheets clad only in a pair of silk boxers. With a small happy smile, the ebony haired man was asleep before his head hit the pillow. His last thought was, things are finally turning out alright.
