Chapter 20:

Chrome sat on her bed after she had heard that.

"Mukuro-nii…!" she called out and slipped out of the bed to ran after Mukuro who is about to go out of her room.

"Wait…!" But since she has a wound in her knee that she completely forgot, she fell on the floor with a loud thud.

Mukuro heard that and went back to the room, worry all over his face.

"…ouch…" Chrome then slowly lifted herself as the pain slowly engulfed her injured knees. Tears began to appear and Mukuro felt guilt wash upon him.

"Chrome…!" He rushed to her sister's side and helped her sit. But then, he noticed something on her knees… Bandages.

Chrome saw Mukuro's facial expression and one thing only entered her mind.

"T-This is nothing, Mukuro-nii! I just fell…" she tried explaining but Mukuro cut her off.

"What happened to that?" He asked in a cold tone. That made Chrome quiver and she fell silent.

"Tell me what happened, Chrome."

Still there was no reply.

"Chrome, one more time. Te-"

The door suddenly opened and Daemon entered with Elena behind him, looking worried as always.

"Don't scare her Mukuro." Daemon interrupted.

Mukuro looked at him glaring. "I'm no-"

"No, I'm not scared!" Chrome suddenly yelled.

Mukuro returned his gaze at her little sister. "Chrome…?"

"I'm not scared… well, I'm a bit scared but that's not what I worry about." Chrome said and then turned her gaze at Mukuro. "I know why you worry so much for me, but I want to tell you… please stop thinking of what happened before. Please, treat me like before. Before that disaster happened to us." She asked and after that, her tears finally fell but she still smiled at her brother, a relieved smile to say.

Mukuro was speechless at that revelation. He never thought that Chrome knew what he was thinking. All of she said was true.

Daemon sighed. "Wow, I can't believe you are still actually thinking about that incident while all of us here already forgot it. How long were you thinking of worrying about that…?" he asked mockingly as he stared at Mukuro with sarcastic eyes.

That made Mukuro glare at his older brother. "Shut up!" he suddenly shouted which made all of the people inside jump.

Daemon on the other hand, remained standing in his feet. His arms crossed like he didn't care about Mukuro's outburst. He stared into his little brother, waiting for the continuation.

"You… you don't know what it feels like… So don't act like it was nothing big!"

"Mu…kuro-nii…?" Chrome stuttered. She was surprised herself with the turn of events.

Daemon frowned when he heard that. "What? You're saying that it didn't mean anything to me?!" he asked yelling as well. Elena walked closer to her lover. She grabbed its arm.

"Please, don't fight…" she said, more like pleaded. Since this is her fault also, It makes her feel bad as well.

Daemon ignored her and continued. "You, stop assuming that you are the only one that got hurt the most at that time!"

Mukuro fell back at that. "I-I'm not thinking like that…."

"Well you are, up until now."

Daemon sighed. He went to Chrome and helped her stand up and return to her bed before continuing. "We all know that all of us had their own faults at that time. So stop thinking that it is only your fault that Chrome has to encounter that. I and Elena assume that we had a fault as well. So please stop torturing yourself with those thoughts. You'll only make Chrome more worried."

Mukuro, after hearing that fell more silent. He admits that it was wrong of him to think of something like that, but it was kind of hard to forget something that happened before your eyes. Especially to someone that is very important for you. And up until now, what happened back there was still clear from his mind.

Daemon turned to him.

"I'll think about it…" he said with his head low as he walked out of the room.

"Mukuro-nii!" Chrome called, worry present in her voice.

Mukuro smiled but isn't looking back. "Don't worry. I'm just going to think over some things. I'll be back." He said and walked off.

Daemon could only smile. "…about time…" he muttered.

After that, he went out of the room and Elena and Chrome were left inside. When the door closed, Chrome heard Elena sobbing.

"W-why are you crying?" she asked worriedly and was about to walk towards her when Elena threw herself in to her.

"I'm sorry… I'm sorry…" she kept on whispering into Chrome as she hugged tightly.

Chrome was confused. "U-um… Elena…? Why are you apologizing…?"

Elena shook her head. "No, this is my all fault. All of this… m-maybe meeting Daemon was wrong after all…" she said as she continued to cry.

"No! This was never your fault! We are all victims here… So please, don't even try of doing that…" Chrome said.

Elena continued to cry into Chrome. What Chrome said didn't process into her head at all.

"Elena… Please, stop thinking like that… Remember what brother said…" Chrome continued and finally, Elena lifted herself.

Chrome shook her head. "I'm fine and Mukuro-nii also. And I am sure that more than anyone else, Daemon-nii got hurt the most. Even if he is smiling and acts that it was nothing, I am sure he is hurt deep inside. So if you try to step away from him, I'm sure he is going to break. And that's what I don't want to happen." She explained.

Elena's eyes widened after hearing that. "W-what are you saying? You are the most hurt here…"

Chrome shook her head. "Yes I got hurt but it's only physically. It's different to what you guys are feeling emotionally. To tell you the truth, I am the most lucky here. You and me to say."

"Huh…? How come?"

"Well, I got my brothers all worried over me and from that, I know they love me and without their support at that time, I may not be here." Chrome then smiled at Elena, happiness all over his face. Elena somehow felt jealous at that. "Having someone to love us is something we are very lucky of. You know what, after that incident, Daemon was very worried that you have to leave him. He even… cried. And I don't want to ever see that again."

"He… cried?"

Chrome nodded her head. "He is both worried to the both of us, that we have to leave him. I think that scares him the most."

"…" Elena, after thinking about what Chrome said, felt herself smile and to think that she'd think something like that. She chuckled and wiped her tears. "Sorry, Chrome… even though I'm the older here…" she said.

"It's okay. It's good that you finally let out your pent up feelings. It's bad if you only bottle them up. They'll explode in a bad way… hehe."

Elena once again laughed at that statement. She ruffled Chrome's hair then spoke. "I am really envy of you. You know what everyone feels. You understand them."

Chrome only smiled at that compliment. "I was always watching you all…." She mumbled to herself and laid back to her bed.

"You're going to sleep…?" Elena asked after she noticed Chrome lying down on the bed.

"Yeah… I'm tired."

"Oh, then see you tomorrow."

"Yeah, good night."

"Good night."

Elena closed the door and Chrome was left on her bed. Finally, she can sleep peacefully now. For now…

Giotto's house…

Tsuna was left all alone in the house, like always. He was sitting on the couch, barely hanging to his consciousness. He was feeling bit drowsy, maybe because he still didn't get enough sleep…? He let out a sigh at that and walked towards the kitchen to get something to drink. On his way, he heard the phone ring making him jump on his feet.

Tsuna ran towards it and answered, "H-hello…?"

"… Oh, Tsuna is that you?"

"Ye-yes…" It was Asari.

"Ah, sorry, me and G won't be coming home tonight. Something came up so you'll be alone for the moment. Though I don't know about Giotto…"

"Ah, he'll be coming home late… I think."

"Oh, you're okay with that, right?"

"Yes. I'll be fine. I'm used to it."

"Then, see you. Take good care of the house."

"Okay. Take care. Bye."

After that, Tsuna returned the phone to where it was. He returned to the kitchen to cook something for himself. No one's coming anyway so he'll just cook something easy to make.

- Time lapse -

Another phone call arrived and this time it was from Giotto.

"Sorry, Tsuna. I don't think I can go home today. I'll make it up for you when I get back."

Tsuna felt his chest ache when he heard that. Even though he said he was fine being alone, but hearing it coming from Giotto… he felt kind of sad.

"I-is that so…? When are you coming back?"

"…Tomorrow afternoon. I'm really sorry about this."

Tsuna shook his head. "No, it's okay."

"… Okay. Then… see you tomorrow."

Then Tsuna hanged up.
