To Love Me As I Am

Alright, this is a side story to a non-existent story of mine. Eh, that doesn't make much sense. I was writing a story about the Cullens' finding a 6 year old Bella in the forest and adopting her. I don't know if I'll publish it, but here's a preview of it.

"Edward?" I heard Bella say. She was peeking up at me through her lashes.

"Yes, Angel?"

"Why do you always say that?" she said, cocking her head to the side.

"Say what, dearest?" I asked.

"That you're a monster. It's not nice to say something that's not true. Esme said!" she said, blinking at me with her hands on her hips.

I frowned at her. "Bella, I've…I've killed people before." I choked out.

"But Jasper said you only killed bad people! That means you're like…a guardian angel!" she said with awe.

"No Bella. It doesn't matter who I kill," I said harshly. "No one deserves to die. And I'm nowhere near an angel."

"Stop!" she shrieked. I froze.

"Just stop, okay? No matter what you say. You. Are. Not. A. Monster. Do you hear me!"

I nodded, eyes wide.

"Er, Edward, do you mind taking Bella to bed? It's getting late." Esme said. I shot her a thankful smile.

"C'mon Bella. It's time for bed." She frowned. "Esme said." I quoted with a grin. She scowled. Rosalie frowned at her.

"That's not a pretty face, Bella." She said in her overprotective-mother way.

"I'm sorry Mommy." She said sincerely.

I led her upstairs and into her room. She snuggled under her covers and I turned to leave.

"Wait!" she called out.

"Yes, Bella?" I said

"Can you lay down with me?" she asked with wide, innocent eyes and an adorable pout.

"Of course, Bella." I obliged.

She snuggled into my chest and smiled. "Edward?" she whispered.

"Yes?" I asked warily, thinking of the other questions she's asked today.

"Can you be my guardian angel?" she said, yawning. I was taken aback.

"W-what?" I said, nearly choking on air.

"You heard me." She said.

"Of course, Bella," I murmured. "I will always protect you."

"Promise?" she asked.

"Promise. I'll protect you forever and a day." I swore.

"What about forever and two days?" she asked sweetly.

"Forever and three days Bella." I whispered to her. "Forever and three."

"I love you, Edward." She muttered.

"As do I, angel. As do I."

Aww! Edward & Bella fluffiness is always cute! Heh, Bella's got a little temper doesn't she?

A few of you wanted to know if I would continue my other stories. Sadly, no. I started them so long ago, and I really just can't find the muse for them anymore. I might post a few more of these One-shot/preview things though. If I get enough reviews I'll post the first chapter of the real thing.

Just one more thing. Have any of you ever read the all-human fan-fics of the Cullens as little kids? I really want to read one, so if you know or have written one with a lot of chapters, please drop me a line. My favorite is 'I knew we'd always be friends' by I am the real number five. Have a nice day!
