After leaving the Bronze, Tara requested Giles' help with an idea she had concerning the necklace Dawn took off as soon as Sweet disappeared. The fact that Xander – somebody who should have known better than to summon a demon – still chose to risk people's lives by doing so worried her. What if it hadn't been somebody they knew? How many more people would have died before Sweet left?
"Giles," Tara started when they were alone; she had a feeling this would involve magick, so she wanted to keep Willow out of it if at all possible. Letting her girlfriend use magick for some things while asking her to cut back on using it at all would send mixed signals to Willow. "We need to get rid of this necklace somehow."
Nothing physical or magical worked in destroying it – as they found out after hours of trying.
"Maybe we could send it someplace where it couldn't be used, or if it was used, wouldn't hurt anyone," Giles suggested out of pure frustration.
But Tara's eyes brightened at the idea. With a little careful wording so it wouldn't harm anyone – including Sweet – they managed to come up with a banishment spell for the necklace.
"Thank goodness that's over with," Tara breathed in relief. "Where do you suppose it went?" she asked belatedly.
Nobody ever claimed responsibility for the changes that happened to the school. Everyone had their own thoughts on the subject though.
One day, William McKinley High School was just like any other public school in the state. It had its cliques and social issues, but dealt like them in the usual manner one would expect of teenagers and the adults responsible for them during school hours.
Then overnight, everything changed…all because of a necklace – although nobody knew that was the cause except the person who used it. And Sweet.
Suddenly people were breaking out into song and dance at the oddest times. Even the creation of the glee club, New Directions, didn't fully contain the spontaneous musicals in the hallways and classrooms.
If anyone had been paying close enough attention to the trigger of such displays, they would have noticed that the songs and/or dancing were greatest whenever somebody needed to express their feelings.
His true identity hidden by a glamour, Sweet would have complained about the lack of spontaneous combustion, but the spell that sent his necklace to this dimension had an interesting side effect. Turned out to be a win-win situation for him.
While he couldn't kill anyone with his abilities, he was able to feed off the energies created by their singing and dancing. As long as they expressed their emotions through music, he would stay strong. Given the emotional upheaval of teenagers, that meant he was set for a very, very long time.
A/N: I left it vague as to who Sweet became in the Glee'verse, figuring Gleeks would have a better chance at identifying who he would have picked than I would.
