The question had been running around in her head. She tried to shake the urge to ask it off, but it kept creeping back to her again. It needed to be asked.
So, as Sam lay on Freddie's chest as they were lounging on the couch in his apartment, she thinks of ways to ask the question.
She could just come out and say it. Or she could explain a little before asking her question.
Finally she decided.
"Freddie?" she had started to call him Freddie, but don't worry she still called him names. They wouldn't be Sam and Freddie if they weren't rude to each other.
Freddie's arm tightened its hold on her waist and looked down into her blue eyes. "Yeah?"
"Do you remember the time when…when Melanie came to visit…?" Sam trailed off and he raised an eyebrow.
"Yeah, I know. I know. Melanie's real"
"No, there was something else I never got to talk to you about…"
"And what is that?"
Sam knew she should back down now. T was a stupid question. He would laugh…wouldn't he?
"Sam, come on, just tell me" Freddie pleaded and Sam lost herself in his eyes. She shook her head to clear her thoughts and then continued.
"So, um, when you came over to Carly's, the day after your, um, date with Melanie," Freddie looked at her sympathetically. He knew she hated this subject.
"Sam, you don't have to finish if you don't want to"
"No, I need to ask this" Sam sighed "So, you said you and Melanie kissed"
"Sam, really, you don't have to"
Sam shook her head and continued. "Well, I was wondering, if you liked it more than our kisses" Sam looked away from him but then Freddie laughed. Sam's eyes pooled with tears. Sure she's strong, but when she asks a really personal question, she will tear up if the love of her life laughs.
Sam looks at him and then sits up. "If it was a stupid question you could've just said so" She glared despite the tears and got off of the couch. She grabbed her jacket and walked toward the door.
Sam stopped when she felt Freddie grab her forearm. She felt a tear slip down her cheek and she sniffed softly.
"Sam" Freddie said softly.
"You didn't have to laugh" She whispered. Sam stood still. Tears were falling faster and faster. Freddie spun her around and brought her close to him. Sam buried her face into his shoulder. Freddie felt awful as he felt tears on his sleeve.
"Sam, I didn't laugh because I thought it was a stupid question. I laughed because there shouldn't even be a question. I knew something was off when Melanie kissed me, it didn't feel…right. But everytime you kiss me, even our first kiss, it feels, special. Sam, I know you don't like cheesy stuff, but this is all true."
Sam sniffled. She brought her head back and looked at him. "I love you" Sam's hand flew to her hand. She couldn't believe she just said that! "I didn't mean to say that"
"So you don't love me?" Freddie smirked, and wrapped both arms around her small waist.
"No- I, I do, I just-" Freddie cut her off by pressing his lips to hers.
They pulled away and Freddie smiled "I love you too"
Sam leaned in again and their lips met. The kiss was soft and gentle, but there was still plenty of emotion in it. Sam pulled away and wrapped her arms around his neck.
He brought his head down to her ear. "No kiss compares to yours" Sam felt her cheeks heat up and she buried her face into his shoulder.
