Author's Note: Due to college applications, I have little time to work on the actual story of my main fanfic. To keep myself sharp and utilize the time I do have, I will be writing small stories that are apart from The Forewarned. They will be both much shorter and not regularly updated, but will have a full storyline.

The Sentinel Project - Concept Scene

It was a beautiful day outside, the sun shining, with hardly a cloud in the sky. Rays of light glint off the water, flowing around the venerable Factory situated in the river, and a flock of birds fly overhead. Although the structure is dated and its surface marred, it seems to be impregnated with an unshakable solidarity, its outers surfaces gleaming. It is an immovable, impervious, unassuming rock, and the waters below can do nothing to dislodge it from its perch. On the shore across the bridge, a simple, large white sign reads: "Property of Halcyon Technologies - Land Under Development."

Appearances can be deceiving. Two men walk down a clean white corridor, more reminiscent of a space-age laboratory than a run-down artifact of the 60s. Both men are in their late 20s, and both wearing black suits and a tie. At the end of the corridor, a security door slides open, admitting a young woman before gliding shut once more. She wears a white lab coat and glasses, and her black hair is pulled back into a long ponytail. She and the two men walk past each other in the passageway, each moving with purpose, but without urgency. At the door, the first man pauses, and pulls a security card from inside his his jacket. He swipes it through a receiver mounted next to the door, which flashes green and prompts the door to open, silent but for a tiny pneumatic shhhhissss. Ulrich replaces his card, and William follows him through the entrance.
