Luna leaned forward over the deck of the boat, her stomach pressing into the wooden railing as she looked through the telescope. She raised her head from behind the device, squinting in the sunlight and doing her best to confirm what she had seen. With a smile, she brought the telescope back up to one eye, shut the other, and gave a squeal of delight.
"TIA! TIA! COME QUICK! LOOK!"
Celestia turned from the opposite rail, dropping her own telescope into the sea and carefully walking along the wooden planks of the ship that rocked steadily upon the ocean's waves. She stood next to Luna, craning her neck forward and glaring hard at the small strip of green barely visible in the distance.
"Is that… did you really just find…"
Luna jumped excitedly, waving her hooves in the air. "YES! TIA, IT'S THERE! LAND HO, EVERYPONY!"
Excited chatter broke out among the armor-covered guard pegasi attending to various tasks on the ship. Everypony present galloped to the princesses' sides, looking eagerly to the horizon as the ship continued to bob up and down.
"Lulu, may I see the telescope to confirm?"
Luna stopped her jumping immediately, and handed the instrument over with a sparkling smile. "Of course! Take a good look, that's totally the land we're looking for!"
Celestia raised the metal tube to her eyes, closing one and peering through it with the other. Her sister was right. Luna had found The New World.
"Well! Let everypony remember this day as the day that I discovered India!"
Luna glared up at her sister, fuming. "WHAT? I FOUND IT! YOU WERE ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE SHIP! AND THAT'S CLEARLY AMERICA! WHAT THE HAY ARE YOU EVEN TALKING ABOUT, TIA?"
Celestia gave a light laugh and brought down a hoof to ruffle her little sister's mane. "Oh, Luna. It's alright. I'll make sure to give you a mention in the Indian national anthem."
Luna stomped her hooves and closed her eyes, shaking with rage. "THAT'S NOT FAIR! I TOTALLY SAW IT FIRST! AND IT'S AMERICA!"
Celestia rolled her eyes and sighed before handing the telescope to a waiting guard. "Now Lulu, don't go having a fit over who discovered what. If you keep it up, I'll have to send you to your room."
Luna began hopping, glaring directly into her sister's eyes and shouting a word whenever she reached their height. She hated being so short, especially in times like these.
"I! DISCOVERED! THIS! LAND! YOU'RE! BEING! A! MEANIE!"
With the final word, Luna fell to the deck and snorted. The guards around the pair retreated and formed a wide circle around the sisters as Celestia gave Luna an annoyed look.
"…you're not going to drop this, are you?"
"Very well. Luna, I want to play a game."
Luna raised her head up from her low stance, and regarded the Sun Princess with an incredulous look.
"A game? Tia, what the hay is wrong with you!"
"Enough. We're playing charades, and that's final. You get to guess first."
Luna blinked, and suddenly a smile broke out upon her face. "Oh! I love charades! Okay, let's play!"
Celestia nodded, and brought a hoof up to her ear and looked pointedly at Luna, who began trying to piece together the clues.
Celestia nodded, and began miming the act of eating cereal.
"Eating… eating… breakfast?"
Celestia continued to nod.
"Um… sounds like… bowl, maybe?"
Celestia shook her head, and pointed one hoof at the other, with which she made a scooping motion.
"Oh! It sounds like… it sounds like… SPOON!"
Celestia nodded vigorously, and quickly moved to her next clue. She stood upon her hind legs, clasped her front hooves together, and began doing 'the wave' as the assembled guards looked at her as though she was from another planet. Luna stared right along with them, wondering if her sister had lost her mind.
"Uh… um… the tides?"
Celestia nodded again with a smile, and fell to her feet. She pointed a hoof at Luna, and gave an evil smirk.
"Wait… sounds like spoon, has something to do with the tides, and… me?"
Celestia grinned wickedly as realization swept across Luna's features.
"YOU'RE SENDING ME TO THE MOON? TIA, NO!"
Celestia's horn glowed, and her sister took off into the air at great speeds as her yelling voice faded into the clear blue sky.
Celestia brought a hoof up to her mouth and giggled, before giving her guards a warm smile.
"I discovered India. Any questions?"
The guards shook their heads unanimously. Celestia walked to her personal cabin, opened the door, gave a jumping heel click, and retreated to her quarters to get some shut-eye.
Silly Lulu. Tia always wins.
Author's Note: …I think we have a new contender for dumbest thing I've ever written.
So I was talking to a friend the other day about how I wrote a Halloween story, and I said I was considering doing yearly holiday stories, just for fun. I then took it a step forward, and joked that I'd do a story for EVERY HOLIDAY EVER, no matter how unimportant it may be. I brought up this idea as an example, and then thought about it. I decided to do it as a joke, because hey, why the hell not. I definitely won't be writing for every holiday, and I may not even do a yearly Halloween story, but I felt the need to write this idiotic one-shot just to be an ass. Woo. No, you can't have the 5 minutes it took to read this back. I'm sorry.
