Warm sunlight seeped in through the small circular window of the upstairs floor of Fluttershy's cottage, slowly illuminating the room as the sleeping pegasus mare nuzzled against her pillows. A sigh of contentment escaped her as she smiled unconsciously, her light pink mane falling into her face. Her hooves twitched a bit as she slept, completely lost in a comforting dream.
Suddenly, a loud thumping noise began to resound throughout the house, causing Fluttershy to slowly raise her head from the pillow as she groggily blinked, acclimating herself to the waking world. She gave a light yawn and rubbed the sleep out of her eyes before sitting up and noticing her pet rabbit, Angel, staring impatiently at her while thumping his foot into the floor.
Fluttershy immediately slid herself out of bed, falling lightly to the wooden surface as she smiled at Angel. She gave him a quick nuzzle and said a quiet 'good morning'. Angel was less than impressed, and thrust a paw angrily at the food bowl in his other hand.
"Oh my, I'm sure you are hungry, Angel. Here, come downstairs and I'll get you something good to eat."
Fluttershy tilted her head and smiled, her messy mane falling into her face as she did so. She raised a light yellow hoof to push it out of her line of sight, smiling all the while with closed eyes. When she reopened them, she was greeted by the sight of Angel with his paws on his sides, looking impatient. Fluttershy gave a light laugh before walking down the stairs, her rabbit in tow. The old wooden steps creaked as she descended them, waking a few of the other animals lounging about the house.
The pastel pegasus gave each animal a kind smile, closing her eyes and pausing before them to make one-sided small talk as Angel hopped impatiently behind her. Finally, the pair made their way into the kitchen of the cottage, where Fluttershy lit the stove to make tea for herself before turning back to her bunny companion and giving him a soft smile.
"Angel bunny, since you've been so patient this morning," she began, as her rabbit rolled his eyes. "I'll give you the biggest carrot we have. You're such a good little boy."
Angel made circular motions in the air with a paw while giving the pony a wide-eyed look, desperately trying to urge her into fetching the carrot more quickly. Fluttershy gave a small laugh at his antics before stepping outside into the garden and tugging at a carrot stalk with her teeth. Angel watched with great satisfaction as Fluttershy managed to pull the orange prize out of the ground, falling onto her rump and giving a surprised squeak as she did so. The tiny rabbit rolled his eyes yet again as he smacked a paw into his face while shaking his head.
Fluttershy walked back into the cottage, nodding and smiling to the animals just waking up before trotting back into the kitchen. She quickly began to break the carrot into bite-sized chunks as Angel held out his bowl, making a disgusted noise at her while she worked. He could not believe the audacity of the mare before him, treating him like he was an infant. He had just turned two, after all, and was more than capable of feeding himself.
"Here you go, Angel."
She watched with a smile as he snatched the broken carrot pieces out of her hooves and began eating greedily. Fluttershy continued to observe him for a few seconds before switching her gaze to the stove and turning off the flame while removing the tea kettle. She slowly poured herself some of the boiling liquid into a waiting cup before placing a bag into the steaming water and letting it steep. The pegasus mare flicked her tail lightly before turning back to Angel and fixing him with yet another warm smile. The rabbit briefly stopped eating to give her a death glare, and then resumed his breakfast as he watched her ascend the stairs before deciding to follow.
He watched as Fluttershy sat in front of her vanity and grabbed her favorite green brush. The mare began to work it through her mane to remove the tangles while humming lightly to herself. Angel watched in silence, continuing to eat his carrot pieces.
"I'm going to the spa with Rarity today, you know. It's Thursday, after all."
Angel rolled his eyes before closing them and putting a paw to his temple. Didn't she know he couldn't talk by now?
She sighed lightly as she struggled through a particularly messy tangle. Finally, the brush broke through, and she continued. "I really do love Thursdays. It's so nice to just… chat with one of my best friends…"
The bunny stopped chewing to mock her, beginning to mouth her words in time while making airy paw motions and posturing in a feminine way as she continued to speak. When the mare finished and turned back to him, he stopped his gesturing immediately and held out his bowl to her while giving his best pleading look.
"Now Angel," she began, tilting her head and giving him a pouty look. "You know I can't give you another carrot yet, it's barely morning, and I don't want you to get a tummy ache."
Angel threw his paws up in the air and turned, crossing his arms tightly against his chest as he tilted his head in an indignant gesture. Fluttershy covered her mouth with a hoof while she laughed a bit, and left him to stew in his mock anger. The mare walked back into the kitchen and quickly drank her tea before turning back to the center of the house. She moved for the door on the bottom floor of the cottage, and began to pull it open when she felt a tug against her leg. She looked down to find Angel pulling at her fur with worried eyes, all traces of contempt gone from his face.
"Oh, don't worry, Angel. Momma's just going to Rarity's boutique for a little while. I'll stop by to give you lunch before we go to the spa, I promise."
Angel gave a satisfied smirk and hugged her leg before breaking away quickly and feigning disinterest. Fluttershy smiled and gave his back a light nuzzle before she stepped outside into the cold morning air.
"Well, I'm off. I'll see you soon, Angel."
Angel didn't bother to face her and give a proper goodbye, instead opting to raise the back of his paw up in a dismissing gesture. It was Fluttershy's turn to roll her eyes before she giggled and turned to walk down the road into Ponyville proper, planning to start her day by visiting her closest friend. The thought filled her with warmth, and she breathed in contently before beginning to walk into town alone.
It's going to be a wonderful day.
Problem: I have too many chapter stories going, and plan to start a huge one soon.
Solution: START ANOTHER ONE.
So, yeah. This will be a weird, stupid little series of drabbles about… how the residents of Equestria start their days. I'm sure the rating will go up as we go further and hit those who are not… morning ponies, but for now, it's all cutesy and fluffy and blegh. This might update frequently, it might not, but the chapters are probably all gonna be pretty short regardless. Consider this a random outlet for when I want to write something without really having to think much about it. Needless to say, the tone of each chapter will be COMPLETELY different depending on who it's focused on. Hope you enjoyed it, and… any requests for who I should do next?
