Charles watched as Laura and the girl were playing and he smiled to himself. Caroline was watching her husband and walked up to him. "What are you thinking about?"
"I was thinking about making that girl as a part of this family. I want to talk it over with the rest of the family before I even think about telling her about it." Charles said as he put his arm around Caroline's shoulders.
"I think that is a wonderful idea, Charles. But we don't know her name or even if her real parents are out there looking for her right now." Caroline said as she hugged her husband.
"I know. But I want to do it. Just in case." Charles said as he walked outside to watch Laura and the girl play better.
That night after dinner, Charles got his family together and said. "I want to ask you girls something."
Mary looked up at her father. "Does it have something to do with our visitor, Pa?"
Charles nodded his head. "Yes Mary, it does. Your mother and I have been talking about making her a part of the family. But we wanted to check with you first since she is going to possibly be your sister."
Laura looked up at the loft where the girl was already sleeping. "What about her real Ma and Pa? Do you think that they are going to be looking for her?"
Charles looked at Caroline before turning back to Laura and said. "We have taken that into consideration, but it's been a few days and since she doesn't know anything about her life before she wondered into our yard. I see no reason why she shouldn't stay with us."
Mary and Laura looked at each other and said "Pa, we'd love for her to be our sister." Mary said.
"Great. I'll ask her about it in the morning. In the meantime, I don't want you girls to say anything to her about it."
Mary and Laura nodded their heads and they went to bed, hoping that the outcome was going to be what they wanted it to be.
