Charlie Baker had just returned from a run and was greeted by his father at the door.
"Charlie, family meeting in the living room, pronto"
Charlie nodded, still out of breath.
In the living room, 11 of the 12 Baker kids were sitting on the sofas. Kate and Tom stood up and the front ready to speak.
" ok everyone! We have… some news…" Kate said
Lorraine's eyes widened.
" Please don't tell me it's another baby.."
"no! No… um… Tom why don't you."
Tom stepped forward. All eyes were on him and although they were family, he still felt scared.
"Well you know it's always been my dream to coach a big league team… and I've got that opportunity. Coaching the Stallions… in Chicago."
"Wait. Chicago?" Jake said what all the other kids were thinking.
"That's like a million miles away!" Sarah exclaimed
"No it's not. This is daddy's dream job guys, and we're going to support him." Kate tired to tell the kids.
Tom turned to Charlie. His eldest son. He trusted his opinion.
" Charlie. What do you say?"Charlie thought for a moment
"I'm not going. Midlands is my home! I have school, football, friends… what about Beth?"
"You can visit Beth on weekends. It's not that far on the train!" Kate said trying to persuade him to give Chicago a chance.
"You can't make us move!" Henry exclaimed.
A week later, Tom had everyone standing on the porch with their suitcases.
The Bakers were going to Chicago.
