Author's Notes: Yet another entry for Asking Me Where My Love Grows' First Kiss Challenge on the HPFC forum.
In my head-canon for next-gen, Lily is with Scorpius. I refuse to stop believing this.
Lily was in the sitting room, reading, when Teddy came in.
"Hi Teddy," she said, barely glancing up from her book. "Mum and Dad aren't here, and neither are the boys, but there's tea and cake in the kitchen if you want it."
"Thanks, Lil," he said, "but I actually came to see you."
"Really?" She shut her book over one finger, marking her place. "What about?"
"About… about us, Lily."
She raised an eyebrow.
"Oh, don't tell me that you haven't felt it! Every time I see you, I feel… I feel…" Teddy waved his hand dramatically. "Don't you?"
"I might, if I had any idea what you were talking about. Look, couldn't you just get some food and wait for the rest of the family? I think I might almost be getting to a good part in my book." She waved the chunky black paperback at him.
"A book? I'm in the middle of confessing my undying love for you and you're worried about a bloody book?"
"Oh," said Teddy. "I hadn't meant to say it quite so quickly, but… since we're on the topic… I love you, Lily!"
"You're way too old for me," Lily said, shaking her head and putting her book down. She had a feeling she wouldn't be able to retreat to the world of rain and glitter any time soon.
"My dad was way older than my mum," Teddy told her, "and that didn't stop them."
"It's not he same thing…"
"Of course it is. Don't you see, Lily, we belong together…"
Without any more warning, Teddy leaned down and mashed his lips against Lily's. His arms went around her, clasping her body against his. Lily struggled briefly, then relaxed, hesitating.
"I think," she murmured against his lips, "there's something… I should tell you…"
"What's that?" Teddy whispered.
She yanked back and slapped him.
"That I have a boyfriend, idiot," she snapped, then picked up her book and stormed off.
