AN- Okay, so this was a challenge. Basically, you have to write a story in which two Doctor Who characters apologize to each other somewhere in the story for some reason. I ended up with our feisty River Song and Captain Jack Harkness. I'm not that used to writing River, but I hope you enjoy! :-)
Also, I don't own Doctor Who. That's implied.
"I'm so sorry challenge"
The Doctor watched silently and numbly as River showed off her shiny, new weapon. He hated guns, detested them even, but somehow, he couldn't really argue when SHE got one out...
"This is the LATEST technology," she bragged, flipping the small silver device in her hand. "One shot from this baby will stop the heart dead, no mess!" She leaned in close to the Doctor, grabbing his bow-tie with her free hand. "I know how much you hate me Sweetie, for bringing this out, but I know deep down, you really like it..." Then, before River could continue, a voice interrupted behind her...
"Hello! And WHAT is your...AAK!"
The Doctor watched desperately as River, in the confusion, defensively spun around and shot the mystery man, right in the middle of the chest.
"River!" he shouted, horrified at what she had done. He stumbled over to the man, and it was only then that he realized exactly who he was. Meanwhile, River stood stiff, shocked at herself, still holding the gun at point. She ended up tossing the gun on the ground, and rushing down to the man as well.
"Oh, I'm sorry..." she told the still man on the ground. "I'm so sorry..." She looked up at the Doctor. "I honestly didn't mean to SHOOT anyone!"
The Doctor groaned, rolling his eyes at her. "And NOW you see why I don't like guns... Because THIS could happen," he said, motioning at the body. River ignored him, putting her head close to the man's chest.
"What are you doing?" the Doctor asked, throwing his hands in the air.
"I'm helping him!" River snapped back, giving him a glare. "Or have you never thought of doing that?" There was no reply from the Time Lord, and she returned to the man's chest, assumedly getting ready to try CPR. "I might be in Stormcage for killing you," she continued, while doing compressions, "but I'm not rude!"
The Doctor just sat there leaning against a wall, hand propped on his head. "Just whatever you do," he warned, "don't try mouth-to-mouth!"
"And why not?" River countered back, getting ready to do mouth-to-mouth.
"Because..." he started, but he was too late. River took a deep breath and pressed her lips firmly around the man's, breathing air into his mouth. Then, to her unfortunate surprise, it was at that moment in which he seemed to come back to life, taking a deep intake of air, startling River so much that she flung herself back against the wall behind her. The man got his bearings, as he looked around, taking a glance at the gun, then the Doctor standing silently behind, and then River, who was sitting rather awkwardly a bit in front of him, breathing real fast.
"Did you kiss me?" the man asked, surprised as well.
"Because he's Captain Jack Harkness..." the Doctor finished, groaning into his hands, which were now covering his face.
River stood up, glaring at him, with that one look that clearly said, "Well, you could of told me that earlier!"
"Oh, I HATE you!" she growled at him. And for probably the first time in the Doctor's life, he honestly couldn't reply.
