Christmas wouldn't feel the same this year. The Dark War was more important. Everyone was spread throughout the world. Everyone would be fighting for their lives. Everyone would be trying to end this once and for all.

Christmas would not be Christmas, at least not this year.

Hermione bitterly crossed her arms over her chest. It was freezing, but it was better than going back into the tent. Things weren't the same since Ron left.

Okay, yeah, she missed him.

Things weren't the same without him. Without him, they weren't Harry, Ron, and Hermione; they were just Harry and Hermione. It didn't have as nice as a ring to it. It just wasn't the same.

She sighed and looked out at the snow covered landscape. She guessed that it was about Christmas time, but it didn't feel like it.

At least not this year.

She watched as the snow continued to fall. At least it would make it more difficult for anyone to follow them. At least it would wipe their existent away.

It meant that Ron would not be coming back.

That thought made her heart melt into a puddle. It made whatever good cheer was there blow out and fall in another snow drift.

By now, the trees would be up at Hogwarts. Everyone would be in a good mood. The teachers would be cutting back on the work. Students would be out playing in the snow and throwing snowballs at unpopular teacher's offices.

But Harry, Ron, and Hermione wouldn't be there: not this year.

She could hear Harry moving around in the tent, but she had no desire to join him. She just wanted to sit out here and stare.

Ever though it was the Christmas season, nothing was happening. It was truly a silent night. Nothing was moving. There was no wind blowing. The falling snow didn't make a sound. It was quite. It wasn't the stillness of something dark being there, it was just a stillness of the woods. It was peaceful.

She wished that her life would go back to being peaceful or at least semi peaceful. She wanted things to go back to the way they were before.

Well, expect for maybe her and Ron.

Not this year. Things would be different this year.
