Michigan

"James," said Lily. "Let's move to Michigan."

James glanced up at Lily. "Why would we do that?"

Lily shrugged. "I don't like it here, in Britain," she explained, staring dismally out at the grey sky. "It's always dark and rainy and blaaaaaah."

"Is it not..rainy..and..blah in.. Michigan.. or something..?"

"I dunno. Probably."

"So.. what's the difference?"

"I don't know. It just sounds nicer than here."

"Well, we are kinda at war, Lil. That might be why it's, y'know, kinda grey out these days."

Lily contemplated. "Okay," she said amicably. "Let's move to Michigan after the war is over."

James raised his eyebrows. "Sirius will starve."

"Oh, we can take him with us," said Lily, waving her hand dismissively. "Him, and Moony, and Wormy too. We can all pack up and move to Michigan.. Sirius hates rain, Remus would just go along with it to make sure you didn't get yourself killed, and Peter would come with us to Tokyo if we wanted him to. And if they won't come, we'll just pack them in cartons and take them."

"Why don't we move to Tokyo, then?" asked James, slightly amused at his wife. Usually it was him with the drifty daydreamy stupid ideas, and Lily was always the amused one telling him not to be silly, and the reversal of the roles was quite enjoyable. "I mean, Michigan, Tokyo, what's the change?"

"Oh, there's a complete difference, you idiot," said Lily. "Michigan is in North America, Tokyo is in Asia.. how did you not know that?"

"Well, I meant they're both pretty far off, aren't they?"

"Well, yeah. But I don't really care. I want to move to Michigan. I've always wanted to move there, ever since my great uncle Graham moved there. He loves it there. We could live with him."

"Right," said James, more amused then ever. "So lemme get this straight. After the war is over, we're packing up Remus, Sirius, and Peter in – in what, cartons?"

"Yep."

James couldn't help but laugh. "All right, let's go with that. After the war is over, me and you – "

"You and I."

"You and I are packing our house and our lives, putting Sirius, Remus, and Peter in cartons, and moving in with your uncle Graham in Michigan?"

"Yes!" Lily beamed. "And we'll take Harry, of course – but not in a carton. It's dangerous to take young children in cartons."

"Lil, it's not too safe to put anyone in a carton."

"Oh, technicalities.."

"So we're set then! As soon as the war is over."

"As soon as."

..I have an explanation. Honest I do.

So I was studying for my science test and I realized that I had to know that limestone was the daughter rock of marble. So I thought, okay, L.M. Let's make a Harry Potter analogy. And eventually I came up with "Lily moves to Michigan." And now, my friends, you have this pile of.. words. I don't even know.
