love me: wazzuuuuuuuup! :) Believe me, I know the feeling. My Christmas went...well...or at least as well as it can go. How did your Christmas go? lol, ikr! I adore anything mysterious, like Dark Shadows. :) The twins are actually based on my cousins who came by for the holidays. They are just so adorable with their chubby cheeks and high pitched voices! ^_^ But they can also be...as my brother says, "little demons of the night". Quite alright, I totally understand! Oh, I almost forgot...how are things with the guy? ;) And thanks again!
Cyber-chan: Read and find out. ;)
AnnaAza: Well...yes and no. All the members are new except for Xiee-I wasn't going to use him, but one of my best friends begged me to since she loved the character. Sadly, happy endings are my weakess...but perhaps this story will help me overcome it...;)
LifeTimesWorth: Gah, I hate that guy. How dare he stand between the second cutest couple in Avatar history! off with his head! I really didn't want to use him orignially because I felt like he was an epic fail in my...past story (shudders)...but one of my besties begged me to since she was practially in love with him. (rolls eyes) Aww, thanks! ^_^ Will do!
omimonkey, I am soooo sorry for taking so long! D: I feel really guilty for keeping you guys waiting! School has kept me busy and I haven't found time to write much lately! It sucks. :( I'll try to update every weekend if I can. Sorry again. Oh, thank you to my lovely and patient reviwers. Enjoy!
Xiee's eyes practically bulged out of their sockets, his jaw nearly dropping to the floor, and a look of awe flashing across his face as he laid eyes upon the infamous Sea Raven, a bar that was assumed to be just to be a rumor. The words that had been spread described a dirty place full of ruffians, drinking themselves out of their senses and killing at random. Their words made the place sound like a bar from a cowboy movie. But, in reality, it was nothing of the sort. While rumors described it to be a place out in the open, the Sea Raven was carefully hidden in the basement of a broken down building. Having been soundproofed and modified to their advantage, the so called ruffians had transformed a filthy dump into what appeared to be heaven for people of their sort, or anyone in search of a good time.
The room was large and dimly lit, but made up for it in flashing lights that often caused a headache, but people would be too drunk or high to notice. The bar was in the center of the room. Behind the counter was a blonde who moved over the fine set of fine French wine and beer desplayed for all to see and admire. Everyone did, staring lustfully at either the girl or the drink. For those who weren't at the bar were either mingling under the rays of lights, some swaying to the loud, thumping music or playing poker or pool in the far left. Indeed, this was truly heaven.
Kagai's eyes narrowed as he squinted through the flashing lights in search of any familiar face, attempting to ignore the passing waitresses and "entertainers" who passed by, some even giving him a flirtatious glances and waves. A few even giggled when he dared return their gaze, but he quickly snapped out of the daze, jaw set. Where were they? He resisted the urge to snarl in rage, attempting to keep his temper at ease. But seeing how it could easily be triggered, it was not an easy task. So he kept reminding himself that they would be here, and that this was not a bloody waste of time. And that as soon as it was over, he could have his fun. But time was ticking by, and his partner would awake in several hours to find an empty bed and no explaination of why he was out. He licked his dry lips, peering over the crowd.
"'ello, boys," a brunette carrying a tray of beverages came over. She spoke with a French accent. "Can I interest you in anyzing?"
Xiee's eyebrows shot up his forehead, and he studied her as if examining a very rare curio. He opened his mouth to speak but no words came out, only a timid moan.
Despite how tough and menacing the young mobster-in-training could be, he always acted strangely around attractive women. Perhaps it was his kryptonite...if it was, he would have to learn to control it before it got them killed. He watched in some amusement as Xiee shakily lifted the glass to his lips, red eyes on her smiling form. Indeed Kagai had to admit she was very attractive. In a black cocktail dress, she stood tall with long flowing dark hair, hazel eyes that glinted, and naturally tanned skin. Attractive, yes, but not worth his time. Maybe he would seek her out after the meeting, just to annoy the punk. Later. Not now.
"Do you see him?" Kagai asked, growling so that this would get his attention.
Xiee didn't even blink.
"Good, oui?" the brunette asked, batting her (possibly fake) eyelashes.
"Very," Xiee said, his Adam's apple bobbing.
Kagai, growing impatient, waved his hand, dismissing the girl before she distracted Xiee away from the reason they were there in the first place. "Now, do you see him?
Xiee glared, annoyed. "Who?" he asked coyly.
That earned him a whack in the back of the head, and his glare turned into one of hatred, eyes glowing dangerously. It was unwise to anger the little punk, due to his fiery temper and childlike ignorance, but, it was also necessary. If he was engraged, this would cause his mind to clear of all distractions, thus making it easier to get him to listen. But the hard part was ensuring he wasn't a complete threat. And controlling him wouldn't be a walk in the park, but it was worth it. The whole bar was full of distractions-Kagai needed him to be on his feet and alert, not some lovesick fool. Xiee clenched his jaw, all color draining from his face.
"Your uncle, punk," Kagai snapped, gesturing toward the crowd.
Xiee removed his eyes from the annoyance and glanced around, inhaling sharply. "Did he say who he would be with?"
"No, I th-"
"Well, clearly he doesn't trust you then," Xiee said, attempting to light the fire to Kagai's own temper. "Obviously he would rather put his trust in a teenager than you-"
"Shut your mouth, punk."
Xiee smirked, his temper slowly flickering away, calming back down.
And thank goodness... if both had gotten furious at the same time, well...Fire fighting against fire...this would cause chaos...
"There!" Xiee pointed over at a poker table where several people were sat, staring intently at the cards in their hands.
"C'mon," Kagai said, stepping into the crowd.
"You go-I'm gon-"
Exasperated and annoyed, Kagai didn't even let him finish his sentence. He grabbed his wrist and dragged him through the heavily populated space, fighting through the crowd of mobsters and such, earning a few glares. A few even reached toward their belts and coats as if ready to start a fight with anyone who dared cross their path. But upon seeing the scarlet eyes and familiar face of the golden eyed one, they recoiled, stepping back as if that if they stayed any closer they would drop dead. Which was technically true. It was suicide to cross anyone from their gang. Messing with one meant messing with the entire pack. You killed one, you suffered the consequences. And eye for an eye. The sensation of being feared filled Kagai with a very pleasant feeling, satisfying. He felt like an alpha predator as the omegas slowly moved away, frightened by his very presence. Or than once, he had assumed this was due to the fact he was naturally frightening.
It was because of the person he worked for.
But his pride told him otherwise, and he basked in their fright as he passed, fueling it. He loved that feeling more than life. It was a feeling that nothing could compare to. The feeling fo being feared gave him a sense of power, but, again, this was not because of him alone. However, even without the boss and other gang members behind him, he was still very menacing. With solid gold eyes that held no emotion, no mercy, large and bulky, he was not the type of man you would want to run into during the night. His presence was like a cold gust of wind. It was like a caress from the villian who claimed to be good-intended to be warm and kind, but was cold and lifeless, sending shivers down the spine.
It also didn't help that his voice was...seductive, in a way. It haunted your memory for long periods of time, tormenting your thoughts.
"Glad you could join us," said a gruff voice. "What took ya so long?"
Kagai bit his tongue, resisting the ugre to fire back. "I...hit a few bumps on the way," he said through gritted teeth.
Qīpiàn lifted his onyx eyes briefly away from his cards before looking back down. "Sit." he snapped his fingers. "Lola."
The brunette from earlier came around the corner, swaying gracefully as she placed two drinks down, handing them chips to bet with.
"Thank you," Xiee stuttered, heat rushing up his neck.
She didn't look at him, twirling around and strutting like a model on a runway to another table.
"Shuffle, Zhuān," Qīpiàn sighed, surrendering his own cards.
"Now that I'm here," Kagai said, glancing at the several familiar faces around him, "tell me what's going on."
Releasing a puff of smoke from her full ruby lips, the only female at the table leaned back in her seat, face hidden behind a curtain of thick dark locks. "Isn't that the million dollar question," she said with a thick Russian accent. She parted a strand out of her face, revealing a flashing dark eye, not brown, yet not black. She looked over fearlessly at the boss, who sat in unusual silence, staring into the distance, deep within his own thoughts. The years of being hunted down like a dog were worn and etched into his wrinkly skin, but the menacing side still lingered, as well as the unpleasant feeling you felt whenever around him. It felt unsettling, but almost...fascinating.
"Why did you call us so abruptly?" Anya asked, popping the cigar back into the mouth while Qīpiàn passed the cards around.
All eyes turned to regard him, and he was pulled out of his fantasy-whatever it was, it seemed to have been pleasant because he appeared disappointed it was over-and looked at his main members with a skeptic look. "Reasons," he said, his voice calm.
Xiee looked up, at once curious. "What reasons, Unc-"
"Boss," he corrected, almost growling.
"-boss..." Xiee said, appearing nervous. "Why are we here? We weren't supposed to be meeting for another month."
"I agree with red eyes," Qīpiàn said, looking suspicous. "What gives?"
Eyes narrowed, they stared down their leader, who looked less than intimidated. In fact, he looked like a teacher being pestered by the students.
"Him." He reached into his coat and pulled out a picture of a tall figure in a long coat, surrounded by the press.
At once, everyone became rigid and stiff.
"Him?" they whispered, exchanging looks.
He tucked the picture back into his pocket.
"Isn't he an FBI agent?" Xiee asked, curiousity at once changing to nervousness.
His uncle nodded grimly, eyes becoming distant from a lost memory. "Indeed."
"What about him? What is so special abo-"
"He's the reason we live like this," Anya said grimly, leaning back.
Kagai sighed heavily.
Anya wasn't entirly correct-he wasn't the reason THEY leaved like they did, just how the boss lived.
"And what about him?" Xiee pressed anxiously.
The boss didn't answer, he merely reached down and pulled up a purse, placing it on the table and pushing it to the center. It was cheap. A five year old could've done better.
"Deliever this bag to this address," he said, handing it to Kagai.
"Why?" he found himself asking out loud, genuinly confused.
"For the cause," he said like it should've been obvious. "Send someone else to deliever it, though. I don't want you to get caught."
Kagai nodded, pulling the purse into his lap.
"I have assignments for the rest of you," the boss said, waving his hand.
"Assignment for WHAT?" Xiee asked impatintly.
Smirking, the boss slowly rose to his feet and said in a calm tone, "Murder."
Sorry it's crappy. :( I had to write it quickly because I'm so dog gone busy. D: Anyway, I hope you enjoyed, and I hope your years are turning out perfect! Okay, question of the day: What's your New Years Resolution? Me? To find a resolution that won't backfire. Seriously, every year I come up with something, it backfires on me. :P Anyway, review please! ttfn
