A/N: I don't know why I wrote this. It floated into my head, and I had no choice but to let it out. It was kind of fun to write, though. Enjoy! ^-^
They were as different in personality as night and day, darkness and light, but somehow managed to get along 90 percent of the time..
"You can NOT be serious."
"I'm dead serious, Kouji."
"No. The answer is a flat out NO."
The dark-haired twins sat on the small balcony their second story apartment had, Kouichi with a pleading look in his eye and Kouji with a stone-faced glare. The brothers had decided, upon turning 20, to get an apartment together, since they hadn't lived with each other since they were 3.
Of course, they had spent so much time at each other's homes over the last 8 years that it was as if they'd been living with each other all along. But that was beside the point.
"But Kouji... They won't let us have a dog, and you said yourself you wanted a pet..."
"We are NOT getting a freaking cat, Kouichi."
Kouji glared at his brother again, but the glare had toned down a bit at the sight of his brother's face. Kouichi had a very soft pout on his lips, a look of pleading in his eyes, his hands clasped together in a begging position. Kouji had never been able to resist anything when his brother gave him this look. It was his only weakness.
"But Kouichi.. I'm not a cat person. I HATE cats."
"But I'm not a dog person, and I tolerated Yukio all those years!"
"That was different!"
"You couldn't have expected me to just get rid of my dog because you suddenly came into my life!"
Kouji found himself flustered, and he didn't know how he'd gotten to this point. It was a stupid argument anyway. The twins only ever argued about stupid things anyway, but this was ridiculous. They were as different in personality as night and day, darkness and light, but somehow managed to get along 90 percent of the time. Except for things like whether they could get a cat or not.
"Our landlord said we couldn't have pets, remember?" Kouji retorted.
"No. She said we couldn't have a 150lb dog running around up here. A small dog or a cat would be fine."
"We won't be getting a damn lap dog, Kouichi," Kouji said dryly. His brother laughed, and then shook his head.
"That's why we should get a cat!"
"No, Kouichi, and that's final."
How Kouji ended up at a pet store 3 days later, looking at a litter of kittens with his twin brother, he would never understand.
