Chapter 10: Addicted

When you smile, I melt inside
I'm not worthy for a minute of your time
I really wish it was only me and you
I'm jealous of everybody in the room
~blink 182, first date

Steve-O's POV:

"I think I'm turning Japanese, I think I'm turning Japanese I really think soooo!" Dunn and Hayley sang in sync as we boarded our plane. All of us were phsyced to get the hell out of Los Angeles. We'd been there for a month and felt so stir-crazy.

Unlike usual, Hayley sat with Me and Pontius on the plane, which was a surprise to me, because Dunn was a little upset, but he got over it really quickly, and he and Hayley texted most of the flight.

After Pontius passed out, I looked at Hayley, who seemed uncomfortable now. We had still been dating for the two months since the night I pushed her back, but things weren't as happy as they'd been. Hayley still held my hand, but she was distant.

Hayley's POV:

"Hayley..." He broke the awkward silence between us since the fight the previous night.

"What?" I breathed out, softly closing my eyes.

"I'm so sorry... I've got a lot of shit to work out, I know, but... I'm really gonna try just for you. Not for Cindy, my Dad, my niece, nobody. I gotta get through this for you. And I'm so sorry... Please don't be mad anymore, it... it felt so weird being alone in bed without you there, now that I'm used to it." Steve-O barely even took a breath.

"Steve-O, I wasn't that mad in the first place. You know that I love you, but there are literally a million things that need to be worked on with you... But we'll dwell on that later. Lets just get some sleep. I haven't been sleeping well for two whole months." I sighed, grabbing his hand and flopping my head on his shoulder.

"How come?" He asked, laying his head on mine.

"Besides the fact that Dunn's snoring almost made me deaf... I missed you." I admitted.

I felt him smile through my hair, and that made me smile.

"I love you, Hayley." He whispered.

I whispered it back.

Later, in tokyo...

"We're in Japan now, Rick." I said into the camera, as I walked up the street to the hotel, my hand locked in Steve-O's.

"What are we doin' here?" Rick asked.

"We're filmin' stuff." I replied back with a laugh.

"What kind of stuff?"

"Like, we're doing one bit I wrote called 'Night Pandas', where, Me, Wee, Ryan, Steve-O, Knoxville, and Preston run around Tokyo in Panda suits. And, Steve-O and Pontius are doing the fireworks thing, and, Wee is doing the big traffic cone thing, Pontius is gonna party boy in Radio Shack and aren't you and Knoxville going around with that gong tomorrow?" I asked after pretty much explaining the entire 4 weeks in Japan.

"Yeah," He replied. "So where are we headed after Japan?"

"Um, The pacific northwest, right?" I asked.

"Yep." Rick smiled.

"Got everything you wanted?" I asked with a laugh.

"Uh-huh." He smiled again, and finally left me alone.

I rolled my eyes, and Steve-O gave me a smile.

"Maybe we could go shopping later. Try to keep myself outta the bars, y'know?" Steve-O said as we walked into the lobby.

"Sure." I said. I checked us both in.

"Like, I don't know. I kinda... I don't know." He looked anxious.

My heart was sinking. I knew he was addicted to the drugs and alchohol. I didn't want to feel bad keeping him away from it. I shouldn't have had too. They were bad for him. But I loved him. I didn't want him to be unhappy, but I wanted him to be safe.

"What's the matter, baby?" He asked me, worry glazing over his huge brown eyes.

"Whatchoo talkin' bout, O? Nothing." I laughed.

"Are you sure?" He asked as we walked side by side, hand-in-hand to the elevator.

"I'm fine, Steve-O." I laughed again. "I'm worried about you though."

"Why?" He asked.

"I don't know. Its just I feel like, bad. I know I shouldn't because the drugs and booze aren't good for you, but I don't think you're happy." I finally spilled when the elevator doors closed.

"Why wouldn't I be happy Hayley? I love you. That stuff shouldn't matter to me." His eyes started to twitch.

"They shouldn't, but they do." I said.

"I know. But I can get through it. Thats why neither of us can focus on it." Steve-O nodded to himself, and smiled at me.

I nodded carefully, and smiled. My boyfriend smiled his beautiful, fake teeth smile back at me, and decided he wanted to pick me up and carry me bridal-style to our room. I found a few choice ways to distract him from his addictions.

We got dressed after we christened the new hotel room, and he gave me a piggy back ride to the lobby.

"Hayley, I'm stealing you away from your boyfriend. You're coming shopping with me and that's that. I miss my baby sister." Bam said, with his arms crossed.

I hopped off Steve-O's back and gave Steve-O a smile.

"Will you be alright without me?" I asked him with a laugh as Bam started to pick me up.

"I'm sure I'll be fine." Steve-O smiled, amused with mine and Bam's brother-sisterness.

When we got out into the streets of Tokyo, Bam set me down. "You know, I saw a pretty cool record store a few blocks down we should go check out."

"Yes!" I stressed. I hadn't been to a music store in what seemed like years. We hadn't had time to with the hectic fuckin' scheduele.

Bam and I walked hand in hand down the extremely busy streets of Tokyo. Bam grumbled about all the people that got in our way, I just smiled and shook my head at my brother's anger issues.

We finally found the store he was talking about, and Bam had an iron tight grip on my hand as we crossed the street. He was protective, but not normally this protective. I know mom would have given him hell if he let anything bad happen to me in a foriegn country. Well, she'd probably lock him up in a cell and torture him for days with Avril Lavigne's Sk8r Boi on motherfucking loop. That's anyone's hell.

Thankfully the music store was emptyish, because there was a huge poster that announced The Jackass Movie would be filming in the Tokyo area, and had all of our pictures.

Those damn promos.

Bam let me wander a little bit, as he was set looking for HIM's new album, the only one he didn't own. I tried to talk him out of it, knowing Ville would have sent him one in the mail and it would be waiting, to which Bam replied, "I'm a fucking millionaire, Hayley."

I rolled my eyes, grumbling that if he kept doing stuff like this he wouldn't be for long.

My spirits are lifted easily though, so grazing over the music made my face light up. Most of these were Japanese bands or pop artists, so the covers were colorful and happy. One female singer in particular, Utada, seemed worth listening too, and she was the only one who sang in English.

I didn't pay much attention to the person who walked in, because I was busy paying.

When I turned around, I couldn't believe my eyes.

It was Jackson.

He was my friend when we were 7, but he moved away. We talked for a really long time, since I was about 14. I was devastated when we lost contact, and I couldn't help the squeal of excitement that escaped my lips.

"Hi Hayley!" Jack laughed as I threw my arms around his neck.

"What are you doing here, fool?" I asked, my eyes welling up with happy tears.

"Senior trip. I saw you walking in here, and I asked if I could catch up later." He explained, rubbing the back of his neck.

"You're voice sound different, Jack. Am I detecting a southern drawl?" I teased.

"Yeah, probably. Living in Texas'll do that to you."

Bam had a smile on his face when he came over. "Hey, little man."

"Hey, Bam. What's up?" Jack asked as Bam slapped his shoulder.

"Nothing much, man. Hey, I'm sorry to interrupt the reunion, but uh, I got a text from Jeff. It's Steve-O, Hayley." Bam said awkwardly.

My face fell. "What?"

"We just gotta go." Bam told me.

"Hey, where are you staying?" Jack asked.

"The Ritz-Carlton." I told him.

"That's where my school is staying." Jack smiled. "Mind if we walk back together?"

"Not at all, but we have to hurry." I said.

We half-ran back to the hotel. Pontius was waiting for us in the lobby, and his hair was wet.

"Pool?" I half-asked, even though I already knew.

"Bar by the pool." Chris replied.

I jogged to the hallway of the hotel, where the indoor pool supposedly was. I suddenly got confused. All the lights had been off, and I didn't smell chlorine. Jack and Bam weren't behind me anymore and the sound of a match strike made me jump.

A candle was lit, and another, and another, and another. A chandelier slowly shone, but stayed dim.

A massive amount of blood rushed to my cheeks as Steve-O smiled at me, clad in a tuxdeo, with his top buttons undone and bowtie untied.

"What are you doing?" I asked, barely audible. I couldn't talk. He literally took my breath away.

"We've been together for about two months now. We haven't had a real first date. So I figured we should have one while we're here." He explained.

"If I'd known I would have worn something nicer." I laughed.

"Smile." He said.

My head tilted to the side, and my face slowly rose to one.

Steve-O smiled too. "Perfect."

He strode over to me and held out his hand. I took it, the smile unmoving.

"Who would have thought, Steve-O, the guy who stapled his nutsack to his leg, a complete gentleman." I shook my head as he pulled out my chair for me.

Steve-O laughed his signature laugh and took his seat across from me.

"Bet you expected to find me coked out of my mind, butt-naked in the pool, eh?" He wiggled his eyebrows.

"That's exactly what I expected." I looked down, slightly embarrassed.

"That's why I did this," He reached his hand across the table. "I want you to trust me, baby. I want this kind of stuff to be what you expect when you come back to me."

Tears of happiness welled in my eyes. "I love you."

After the date was over, Steve-O had gotten rid of the jacket and bow-tie, and I was nearly in tears from laughing so hard.

Everyone was waiting by the real pool, and I skipped over to Jack, who was there with a few other people I didn't know.

"Hayley, where were you?" Jack laughed.

"On a surprise date with Steve-O." I explained.

"What?" Jack's eyes narrowed.

"Steve! C'mere!" I called for my boyfriend, who was at my side within a second or two.

Jack looked him up and down unhappily.

"Jack, this is my boyfriend of two months, Steve Glover. Steve, this is my childhood best friend, Jack!" I introduced them.

"Pleasure," Steve-O held his hand out.

Jack took it reluctantly.

"Steveeeeee-O!" Pontius called for Steve-O from in the pool.

"I'm gonna run up and put my suit on. Be down in a minute." He gave me a quick peck on the lips before he ran off.

I was still all starry eyed when I looked back at Jack. He looked pissed, big time.

"What's wrong with you?" I asked, sitting next to him.

"Nothing." Jack said back.

"Hey! Don't be like that! We magically met in Japan while I was filming and you were on your senior trip, we gotta revel in the moment!" I smiled and elbowed him playfully.

Jack began to nod and smiled too.

"Yeah, you're right. Let's take a picture, to remember it forever." He slid his phone out of his pocket.

We posed and took a couple different pictures, and I gave him my phone number so he could send them to me.

Jack's POV:

Her boyfriend came back downstairs, and she bounded to him happily. Completely cutting off our conversation, and making my heart sink. What made that asshole so special? He was a drug addict, alcholic loser. She'd been with him for two months and known him for what, maybe a month or two before that?

Hayley was only 16, she had no clue what love was. He was what appeared to be in his mid twenties.

I wouldn't have been surprised if he'd taken her virginity already.

A young dark haired woman who had been making out with that Chris Pontius guy earlier handed her a bathing suit and dragged her into the changing area.

I couldn't hide my blush as she came out in a bikini with roses all over it. It didn't seem her style, but she looked very nice.

I'd seen enough.

I knew that she'd be a partier once she'd gotten famous, I wasn't blind when it came to the Jackass crew, I didn't have a problem with it. But it shouldn't have been Steve-O holding her in the pool as the waded in the shallow end with Chris and his girlfriend. It should have been me.

"Fuck it." I muttered under my breath, and stood up, picking up my backpack.

"Jack!" Hayley called after me as I walked passed the pool. "Where you goin'?"

"Curfew." I called back.

"I'll see you tomorrow!" She yelled to me happily.

I looked back, seeing her smiling at me. I smiled too, but the scowl returned moments later when I looked to Steve-O, looking at my Hayley with adoring eyes and a huge smile, with his stupid arms around her waist.

"Sure thing, Hayles."

I ran into Ryan Dunn on my way to the elevator, another reunion that should have been happy, but I was to miserable to smile.

"Hey, Jacky Boy." Dunn smiled.

"Hey, Dunn. Long time, eh?'" I greeted him.

"What's the matter?" He asked.

"Nothing, I guess." I shrugged.

"Hey, dude. I've known you since you were a sprout. C'mon, spill it. What's up?" He leaned against the wall, waiting.

Ryan shook his head and laughed. "Figures. She talked about you all the time."

"Steve-O has no business being with her. He's no good for her." I began.

"Well, that's partially true, but listen, Hayley is-"

"Happy? In Love?" I scoffed. "Hayley is 16. She doesn't know what love is. She may think she is because she may be happy. Hayley deserves better than him."

"Hayley deserves to be happy. Steve-O makes her happy." Ryan began to get firm.

"Look, man. I get it. You're protective of Hayley. Whatever. Be her protector and get her the fuck away from Steve-O."

"Don't tell me how to protect my fucking baby girl." Dunn growled. "She's my little sister, and it took a minute to win her over, but after I break the trust within the two of us, it will take me a lifetime to get her back. I know her better than her real brothers. I know what Steve-O means to her, and I respect that. He treats her good, and I respect him for that."

"Well, good for you, Dunn. Now, listen to me. Steve-O and Hayley are not good for each other. I'm good for her. I'm not gonna stop until she's mine." I growled back.

My eyes burned with rage as I pushed past Ryan.

I like the idea. I mean, I had severe writers block. It'll make for one hell of an interesting story!
