Tim's phone ringing at 3am is what woke Gibbs up. He must have woke up on the last ring, because it had stopped ringing. As Gibbs closed his eyes, he heard another ring chime in on Tim's phone. Gibbs threw his legs over the bed, and rubbed his face. The ringing stopped again. Gibbs yawned and laid back down. He fell asleep again almost instantly.
When Tim woke it was almost 7 am. He opened his eyes and grabbed his phone when he heard it beeping signaling that he missed a call. He touched the screen and noticed he had a voicemail. He called his voicemail, and what he heard made his blood run cold.
Gibbs was all ready for work by 6am. When Tim didn't come down by 7, Gibbs went to wake him up. He walked to the closed door, and knocked.
"Tim we have to get to the office soon. I've already had two cups of coffee."
Silence followed as Gibbs spoke.
He opened the door and saw Tim in shock, his face white as a ghost.
The next three words uttered out of Tim's mouth, made Gibbs extremely worried.
"He found me."
Gibbs walked closer to Tim.
"What do you mean he found you?"
Tim handed his cell phone to Gibbs.
"He left me a voicemail."
Gibbs picked up the phone and listened.
'I'm going to make you suffer you good for nothing brat! Don't think that, that boss of yours can protect you forever. I have eyes everywhere. You took my life away from me, now I'm going to take yours away from you. I have eyes everywhere watching you.'
A click was heard, then Gibbs handed the phone back to Tim then he took his out.
"Leon, Mcgee and I will be out for the day."
'Sounds awfully suspicious you both being out together on the day.'
"It's for a good cause Leon."
"Alright, but I want an explanation for this when you get back."
Gibbs hung up, and went to sit down next to Tim.
"We're going to have to tell the director something Tim."
Tim nodded, but didn't say anything.
"Hey don't worry ok. You're going to be ok."
Tim looked up at Gibbs.
Tim shook his head. He knew better. The man already figured out that he was staying at Gibbs' house. The question was what he was going to do to get at him. Start the house on fire, break windows, start shooting? He couldn't wait for the inevitable.
"I should go."
Gibbs shook his head.
"Not going to happen Tim."
Tim stood up and started pacing.
"Boss…What is he going to do to get at me? He already knows I'm staying here. What if he comes after me here…in your house? I couldn't live with myself if something happens to your stuff, your life when it should only be affecting mine."
Gibbs stood up and grabbed Tim by the arms.
"I don't want you to ever say that to me again! We are a Team, a family and this is what family's do. They help each other out. Ziva, Tony, Ducky, Abby, and I are all a part of your life. What happens in your life, affects us all."
Tim shook his head, and started to cry. Gibbs wasn't sure what he was supposed to do. He's never seen, or even imagined Tim to break down like this. He did the only thing that came to mind. His fatherly instincts came into play and wrapped Tim in a hug.
"I never should have told you this."
Gibbs rubbed his back.
"Yes you should have. If you didn't, he still would have come after you, only I wouldn't know anything about it, or how to save you."
Tim broke from the hug, and wiped his eyes. His face turned beat red.
"Sorry boss…I don't usually break down like this."
"Don't worry about it Tim."
Tim looked towards the ground.
"I should go."
Tim nodded, and turned towards the door. Before Tim could walk through the bedroom door, Gibbs grabbed his arm.
"No Tim. You're not going anywhere. There's a psycho after you. You go anywhere alone, and you're committing suicide."
"I don't want him to hurt anyone close to me. It's me he's after and he'll do anything to get at me. What if he goes after you? Or Abby? Or Tony? Or Ziva? Then what? What am I supposed to do then? I would feel horrible if something happened to any of you because of something I did."
"Ok Tim that we need to rectify right now. This isn't your fault. You didn't kill your mother. They did! They did it Tim and you were just a little boy! I don't EVER! EVER! Want to here you say that again. This isn't your fault, so stop making it your fault."
Tim sighed heavily.
"So what do we do now? Wait for the ball to drop?"
"I'll take care of it Tim. In the mean time, you remember we had a conversation about getting a protection detail?"
"Thought we agreed not to have one?"
"Rules have changed Tim. I'm going to have double protection detail for the time being. I'm not taking chances with your life.
