Elle flumped down on Emmett's cosy worn out sofa, the same one where they had had their first kiss and the same one where she studied for her finals.

"What's up honey?"

Emmett walked over and gave his fiancée a kiss on the head

"Nothing, just worn out, from so many people saying 'Congratulations' and 'We knew all along'!"

"Well, you're going to have to endure one more"

Elle looked at Emmett with amusement in her eyes

"Congratulations Elle. I love you"

A small peal of laughter escaped Elle's lips. Emmett watched her intently, with so much love in his eyes. She turned and kissed him full on the lips. He responded passionately, and looked disappointed when she pulled away.

"I love you too" she murmured against his chest

Elle looked up and chuckled

"Don't pout"

He pulled her closer to his chest and kissed the top of her head, savouring the smell of her hair.

Emmett looked at her quizzically

"When are you going to get me a ring?"

"Well... I proposed to you, so you get the ring. But I want one"

Elle pouted and turned her head up to face Emmett

She batted her eyelashes rapidly

"Why can I never say no to you?"

"Why can I never say no to you?" Elle retorted

"Come on. Let's go to bed"

Emmett woke up, inevitably, before Elle. He looked down at her blonde hair spread out over the pillow in the single bed they shared in Emmett's smallish apartment. Elle had moved in with him towards the end of her second year at Harvard, about 9 months after they stared properly dating, and 9 months after the Brooke Windham case. He smiled at her sleeping face. She always looked so peaceful when she was sleeping.

He carefully slid out of bed, trying not to disturb Elle. She reached out in her sleep and when she found no warm body next to her, she woke up properly.

"Emmett?" she asked sleepily

"Yes?" the reply came from the bathroom, his voice echoing off of the tiled floor

Elle sat up and stretched. She swung her legs over the edge of the bed, leaving the covers half hanging of the bed. She padded across the worn carpet and entered the bathroom. A mischievous smile came across her face as Emmett was facing away from her, looking at the worn out shower curtain. She ran as silently as she could and leaped on him, hugging him from behind. Emmett stumbled and regained his balance, hugging the arms that had appeared around his waist. He felt Elle smile into his back. He turned round and laughed at Elle's bed hair.

"I thought you always had perfect hair!" he narrowed his eyes at her accusingly

Elle glanced in the mirror mounted on the wall

Emmett laughed at her horrified expression, which suddenly softened and turned back to him.

"But you know what?"

"We don't have to go anywhere today, and I don't mind what you think of my hair."

"Don't I have work?"

"No, I forgot to tell you, while you were in the shower last night your boss called, having somehow found out that we got engaged yesterday, and gave you the day off"

"Because I get to spend more time with you"

"I love you"

"Love you too"
