My heart was torn in two, as if someone had sliced it to ribbons. I padded into camp, my encounter with Crowfeather had not gone well. I tried to tell him about te kits I was expecting, but he refused to listen and told me about Nightcloud and his kits. I spotted my sister, who was just padding from the warriors' den. Squirrelflight stopped, noticing my ruffled pelt and how my tail drooped, dragging in the dirt. She bounded over quickly, her eyes lit with worry.

"What happened?" Squirrelflight demanded. I just shook my head and led her out of camp quickly, as to not draw attention to ourselves. I stopped beside the lake, listening to the waves lapping at the shore.

"I'm having kits." I confessed, the words barley moving my mouth. Squirrelflight gaped at me, her eyes round with disbelief.

"But your a medicine cat!" Squirrelflight hissed. Leafpool hung her head.

"I know." She whimpered.

"who's the father?" Squirrelflight looked as if she knew, she just wanted it to be wrong.

"Crowfeather." I choked. My belly squirmed as I said his name.

"No!" Squirrelflight gasped, her ginger pelt prickling. "Leafpool!"

Leafpool nodded, clearly ashamed of what she had done.

"Please help me, Squirrelflight." desperation laced her mew as she looked at her belly forlornly.

"How?" Squirrelflight's voice cracked.

"Take them and say their yours and Brambleclaw's." I pleaded. Squirrelflight stared across the lake, her expression blank.

"Fine. I'll do it."
