Part two, as requested!
For all those that asked.
"So, I was thinking. Maybe Aideen could run away after what Nicholas did to her?" Jerome suggested, referring to the main characters of Patricia's story.
The two were in Jerome's room. Patricia didn't like it in here, but she figured it was safer since Mara was in the house but Alfie wasn't. She didn't like being alone with Jerome either, but if to get her story back she had to listen to him talk about it first, so be it.
"Maybe," Patricia said, considering the idea. It was in Aideen's character to react like that, and if she were Aideen, she'd probably do the same thing. She might let him have that one. Might.
There was a knock at the door. "Come in," Jerome said without thinking. Patricia's eyes widened and she hit his arm. He flinched away.
Fabian walked in. "Hey Jerome, we're—Patricia?"
"Yeah?" Patricia made a spur-of-the-moment decision to play it cool and act like nothing was weird at all.
"Um—" Fabian seemed at a loss for words. "I—I was just looking for Jerome, for a Sibuna meeting…you too, I guess, Patricia, Nina's looking for you—bye!" He awkwardly made a hasty retreat from the room, an extremely freaked-out look on his face.
As soon as he was gone Patricia and Jerome looked at each other and burst out laughing. "Did you see his face?" Jerome cried in between laughs.
After a minute they calmed down, then caught each other's eye again and laughed even harder.
"We should probably get to that meeting," Patricia choked out.
"Soo, Patricia," Amber said, daintily sitting next to the other girl on the couch.
Patricia looked up from her laptop. "That's a scary tone."
"I hear you were in Jerome's room? I noticed you guys are spending a lot more time with each other lately. What's that about?"
Patricia's mouth opened, and then shut again. "Uh.."
"Is it Patrome?" Amber asked seriously.
Patricia racked her brain for the term but came up empty. Okay, I'll bite. "Amber, what on earth is Patrome?"
"Patricia and Jerome." The way she said it, like it was completely obvious, made Patricia expect a duh on the end of it. "You know, like Nina and Fabian are Fabina, and Mick and Mara are Mickra…"
"Anyway," Patricia said loudly, silently begging her shut up, "there's no…Patrome, Amber. We're just working on something together. That's all." Not a total lie.
Amber rolled her eyes. "Oh-kaay," she said, drawing the word out, obviously unconvinced. "Just keep deloding yourself, Patricia. Sooner or later you'll realize these feelings that you clearly have for him but are too afraid to admit."
"Don't you mean deluding?"
She thought about that. "Whatever, you know what I mean."
How does she even know words that big? Patricia's mind tried to wrap itself around what the blonde had just said and couldn't, so she simply stared at her a moment.
"I have to go," Patricia lied. "Over—over there." She quickly pointed to where "over there" was, then grabbed her laptop and practically ran.
Later that day, while everyone else was doing whatever, Jerome snuck up to Patricia's room and rapped on the door. After a "Who is it?" he was allowed entry.
"Write any more?" he asked, reaching for the notebook. She snatched it away at the last second.
"Can't you at least wait till I finish the sentence?" she complained.
He huffed air out his mouth exaggeratedly. "Fine." She scribbled a few more words, making sure to pretend to contemplate each one just to make him mad, before flipping back a couple of pages and handing him the book.
"You'll be needing a new one soon," he commented.
Patricia shrugged. "Yeah, I suppose."
The corners of Jerome's mouth turned up and he set the notebook down before fishing in his bag. "Which is why," he said when he'd located the item he wanted, "I got you this." He presented her with a brand-new one, in her favorite color, black, with some white designs swirling on the cover.
She took it from him, stunned that he would be so nice. "Thanks," she said, for lack of anything else to say.
"No problem, Trixie." He picked the first notebook up again. "I'll be right back with this."
So I don't really like the ending, but whatever. Third chapter is coming. I don't know when, but it will.
Also I'm not caught up yet (though I've watched more, up till Nina, Fabian and Amber discover the tunnel) so no spoilers please!
One more thing: I forgot to say this last time, but the line from Patricia's story is more or less from a book I read called Leviathan by Scott Westerfeld. And a virtual cookie and a sneak peak at chapter 3 for the first person who can tell me a) What I based parts of Patricia and Amber's conversation on (it's a scene from a show I watch), and/or b) What I took the first two lines of their conversation from (another show I watch).
It will go like this: Say Person 1 gets A. Person 2 gets B. Person 3 gets A and B. All three will get the same sneak peek. Or, if Person 1 gets both A and B, only Person 1 will get the sneak peak. Comprende?
