"Because I knew you, I have been changed for good."
"I could have stayed in that moment forever with my chin in her golden curls. I could have held her close, but I knew that I couldn't. They were coming.
'Be safe, my Elphie." Glinda whispers into my ear. I watched as she left and I felt my throat get dry. I could hear them coming. The Witch Hunters. Fear rose within me as I could hear them chanting: go hunt her, find her, and kill her.
The next few minutes, as I would recall later, was all a blur. I remembered the terrified look frozen on the girl's face as the frayed end of my cape caught fire. I had yelled, I had screamed, and I had batted at her to leave me alone. Then, the wave of lake water washed over me, dousing my figure from witch hat to boot. I screamed at the top of my lungs, hoping to distract the girl while I leapt into action.
"You insolent child! I'm melting! Oh, my beautiful wickedness!"
And with that, I was being lowered into the dark basement, forever leaving the Wicked Witch of the West behind me.
