A/N: The virtual cookies from last chapter went to Too Lazy To sign In. Sorry…

Thanks once again for the wonderful reviews, and adding this story to your Favorites and Alerts lists. Just a warning, this chapter is seriously anti-Tyler. I've never liked him, and hated him with Caroline. Next chapter – Paris!

"Well don't you look like the cat that got the cream," Klaus commented as Caroline sauntered into the room, a pleased smile on her face.

"That's because I have a surprise for you," she told him.

He smiled. "A surprise?"

"To thank you for helping me get through losing my mom," she explained. Moments later they were outside. "Hand over the keys," Caroline said, extending her hand.

Klaus smirked. "Is this a surprise for me, or an excuse for you to dive the Ferrari?"

"Keys," Caroline repeated, avoiding his question.

It wasn't long before Caroline parked in front of Mystic Falls small Salon. Seeing Klaus look, Caroline relented. "I'm going go give you a massage."

"You?" he confirmed.

"Yes, me. It wouldn't be much of a 'thank you' otherwise." She didn't want to admit hat she didn't like the idea of another woman having that much physical contact with Klaus. She refused to call it jealousy.

They went in, and the owner greeted them. "Hello, Caroline."

"Hi. Is everything ready?"

"Yes. Of course. Go on back."

Caroline led Klaus to a back room, set up with a massage table. It was lit only by candles, and a soft scent was in the air.

"You'll need to take off everything except your boxers, then just lie down on the bed – on your stomach first - and relax."

Klaus did as she asked and enjoyed the appreciative look in her eyes as she watched him. Picking up the small bottle of massage oil, Caroline began.

While she worked on his legs Caroline wondered who was enjoying the massage more. Him. . . or her. She was reveling in the chance to look at him as he pleased, and feel the smooth skin under her hands. Klaus wondered where she'd learned to be so good at massage. His body felt boneless by the time she told him to turn over. The feel of Caroline's gentle hands working over his body had all his senses alive.

When Caroline began working the oil into his stomach Klaus decided that this thank you gift was one of her more brilliant ideas. Though it was taking all his centuries of self control to keep his body from reacting to strongly to her touch. It was a pleasant torture he never wanted to end.

Once Klaus was dressed again, he pulled her close. "Thank you, love. That was amazing."

"I'm glad you liked it," she said, then leaned up to kiss him. It was a deep and intense kiss, much like their first one.

A noise out in the hall caused them to break apart.

When they got home, Tyler was waiting.

"I'll be in my room," Caroline told Klaus, ignoring Tyler completely.

Once Caroline left the room, Tyler realized her scent was all over Klaus. He was covered in it. Matt could only think of one thing that would get her scent on him like that. They were sleeping together. His eyes widened, and he let out a soft growl.

Klaus gave him a sharp look, then realized what was going on, what Tyler assumed. "Watch yourself, Tyler. What Caroline and I do is none of your business," he said, not bothering to correct the assumption that he was sleeping with Caroline. "She planned and instigated this afternoon's very enjoyable activity," Klaus said, driving the knife deeper.

"Was this your plan all along? To take her from me?" Tyler demanded.

"I had no interest in her until the night of her birthday, when you'd already bitten her. Now, I assume you came here for a reason?"

"I just… I wanted to see her. She avoids me at school – and we couldn't talk there anyway."

"Well, as you can see, she doesn't want to see you. If there's nothing else, you can see yourself out," Klaus said, turning to walk away.

Caroline had been at the top of the stairs listening, and came down just before Tyler opened the door. "I'm not sleeping with him – if that's what you think."

"Don't lie, Care! I smelt you all over him! ALL over him!" Tyler yelled. He was truly angry at Klaus, but the sire bond wouldn't let him take it out on Klaus, and Caroline made an easy target for his anger.

Before Caroline could react, Klaus had Tyler up against the wall, his fist on Tyler's throat to hold him in place. "Raise your voice to her again, and I will end you," Klaus warned in a deadly voice. "Apologize," Klaus ordered, releasing his fist so Tyler could speak.

"I'm sorry," he said.

Klaus moved to Caroline's side.

"Just get out," Caroline said. "I was trying to… make it easier for you, and you yell at me and accuse me of lying."

"You wanted to 'make it easier' on me? First you move in with him, and then you lie about sleeping with him? After he's the one that made me hurt you? Have you forgotten that part, Caroline? Have all the things he gave you bought your loyalty, as well as your body?"

She stepped close to him, and slapped him hard across the face.

"Shall I kill him for that insult, love?" Klaus asked, his voice low and deadly.

"No. Just treat him like you would any other hybrid. Like the tool his is," Caroline answered. She knew that if Klaus killed Tyler, it would turn the Mayor against him. She appreciated that he was willing to do that for her, but wasn't going to let him.

Klaus looked at Tyler. "You will never again speak badly of her. Not a single word. Now thank her for saving your miserable life, and get out. Come back when she's at school Monday, and I'll give you further orders, tool."

"Thank you for saving my life," Tyler said, then left.

Two days later Caroline and Elena were at the Mystic Grill. "What did you want to talk about?" Caroline asked as they sat down with their coffees.

"Tyler said… that you were sleeping with Klaus. Are you?"

"No. Not like he means. After Mom… I slept with him – but it was just sleep. I couldn't be alone right then…"

Elena put a hand over Caroline's. "It's okay. I, more than anyone, get that. But Tyler thinks…"

"I know what he thinks, and he's wrong, Elena. I'm not saying it's never going to happen, but we haven't gone that far yet."

"Well, he was having a hard time finding the words…"

"I'll bet he was," Caroline said, her tone angry and bitter.

"What happened?"

"He called me a whore. He didn't use that word, but he basically called me a whore. Klaus didn't like it, and told Tyler he couldn't ever say another bad word about me," Caroline explained.

"I'm sorry, Care. So how far have you gone?"

"Oh God, can he kiss… Damon, times a thousand…" Caroline said, ginning.

"That would be good," Elena laughed.

"Enough about me. What about you?"

"Seeing that he's really losing me to Damon seems to have brought Stefan around. Things are better," Elena said, a soft smile curving her lips.

"And Damon?"

"He's my Jacob. I love him – I do. But Stefan is my soul mate. The one I have to be with."

"You, using a Twilight reference?"

"Hey, you're the one who made me read those books," Elena reminded her.

Weeks later, Elena and Caroline were in Caroline's rooms getting ready for graduation.

Caroline was wearing the simple, but elegant, black silk sheath dress and Manolo Blanik heels Klaus had gotten her as a graduation present.

Both were subdued, thinking about their mothers; with Elena also thinking of her father and aunt Jenna.

"We can do this. We have each other," Elena finally said, turning to face her friend.

"Yes. We can do this," Caroline agreed, and they hugged.

"Can I convince you ladies to make this a threesome?" Klaus teased from the doorway.

"Klaus!" chided Elena.

"We were having a nice moment, and you have to go and ruin it," Caroline scolded. It would have been more effective without the ends of her lips trying to turn up.

"Sorry, love. Are you ladies ready to go?"

The doorbell rang, signaling Stefan's arrival. He was taking Elena, and Caroline was going with Klaus.

"You look beautiful, Elena," Stefan said as he saw her.

"Thank you, Stefan. You look very dashing yourself," she said, moving forward and giving him a quick kiss.

The Salvatore brothers were hosting the graduation party at the boarding house that night.

At the party, Tyler came up to Caroline. "I'm sorry. I thought the apology might mean more if it wasn't compelled. I was angry at Klaus, and took it out on you."

"In anger there is truth. You wouldn't have said it, if some part of you didn't think it, Tyler. Go away."

"What did he say?" Matt asked, having heard the conversation. No matter how things had ended with Caroline, he still cared about her.

"He implied I was a whore," Caroline said.

Mat punched Tyler. Before anyone else could react, Damon was there. "Tyler, why don't you leave. We don't need a fight at this party."

Seeing no reason to stay, Tyler left.

"Looks like I missed some excitement," Klaus said, as he handed Caroline the drink he'd gone to get for her.

"Just Tyler leaving," Damon replied.

"Thank you, Matt," Caroline said, leaning in to give him a kiss on the cheek.

"Save me a dance later?" he requested.

"Of course," she replied, smiling.

"And one for me," Damon said. Caroline nodded.

"Seems your dance card is getting full, love," Klaus noted.

"Don't worry, I saved most of them for you," she told him, then sipped her drink.

Once again, Caroline and Damon danced in silence. Both found it relaxing and enjoyable. During her dance with Matt, she talked of the things she wanted to see in Paris, and he talked about his college plans.

She danced with Stefan while Damon shared a dance with Elena. The rest of the dances she happily spent in Klaus' arms.

Once it was late, the Kareoke started.

Caroline sang Christina's Perry's "A Thousand Years", keeping her focus on Klaus.

Heart beats fast
Colors and promises
How to be brave
How can I love when I'm afraid to fall
But watching you stand alone
All of my doubt suddenly goes away somehow

One step closer

I have died everyday waiting for you
Darling don't be afraid I have loved you
For a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more

Time stands still
Beauty in all she is
I will be brave
I will not let anything take away
What's standing in front of me
Every breath
Every hour has come to this

One step closer

I have died everyday waiting for you
Darling don't be afraid I have loved you
For a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more

And all along I believed I would find you
Time has brought your heart to me
I have loved you for a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more

One step closer
One step closer

I have died everyday waiting for you
Darling don't be afraid I have loved you
For a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more

And all along I believed I would find you
Time has brought your heart to me
I have loved you for a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more

As she sang, Caroline realized that this was the first time she'd truly admitted to herself, consciously, that she was in love with Klaus. Once she was done, Klaus drew her close, and kissed her, and he lowered them into a dip. Everyone clapped and smiled.

Once they got home, they kissed again. Caroline leaned back, to look in Klaus eyes. "I want this. I want you. But… it's Paris… I just… I now it's silly, but I dreamed about our first time being in Paris…"

He hushed her with a gentle kiss. "I've waited a thousand years for you, love. A couple more weeks is nothing. You want the romance of our first time together being in Paris, and that's what you'll have. Sweet dreams."

She kissed him again, then they went to their own rooms.
