I've just started watching Buffy, and while I was watching Nightmares yesterday, I spent a lot of the episode trying to think of what their nightmares would be. More specifically, Buffy's and Xander's had already happened, so I was trying to think of Willow's. This is basically what I was thinking of.

Willow Rosenberg rounded the corner, expecting to find her best friends, Buffy Summers and Xander Harris, waiting for her.

What she didn't expect to see was their lips pressed together.

Willow stopped short, frozen in shock. After a moment she numbly turned around and began to leave so they could be alone, but then she heard Buffy say her name in a surprised tone.

Slow turn. "Yes?" she whispered. Buffy said something to Xander, who nodded, and then Buffy got up and came over to Willow.

"Look, I'm sorry you had to find out this way," she said. "Really. Willow—" She cut off.

Willow waited for her to continue. "What?" she asked when no further sound came from the Slayer's mouth.

"Be honest. Are you okay with this?"

No. Why would I be okay with it? You knew I loved him.

Despite what her mind said, Willow forced herself to put on a fake smile. "Of course. Why wouldn't I be?"

Buffy beamed. "Great. You're the best, Will." She gave her friend a quick hug just as the bell rang. "Gotta get to class. See you later!"

"Bye," Willow said weakly. She could feel her eyes starting to fill with tears and she angrily attempted to blink them away, when all she wanted to do was break down and cry.

Tap tap tap tap tap.

Willow opened the door to reveal—"Xander!" she cried happily. Her face lit up.

His was serious. "Can I talk to you for a second?"

Her face instantly fell again. "Sure. Come in." She stepped away from the door and allowed him entry. "So what's up?"

"Well—" he started, then took a deep breath. "I don't think we should hang out anymore."

Her eyes widened. "What? Wh—why not?"

"Well, now that Buffy and I are together, I just want to spend more time with her, you know?"

"Yeah, I—I know," she whispered.

"So is that okay?"

She fake-smiled yet again and gave him the same response Buffy had gotten. "Of course."

"Great. I knew you'd understand, Will." He clapped her on the shoulder and with that, left.

This time she let the tears fall.

Willow awoke, her body wracked with sobs. She hugged her arms to her body and pinched herself. It hurt.

"It was only a dream," she whispered, needing the words spoken aloud to believe them. "Only a dream."

Aww, poor Willow. I mean, even though I know they both end up with other people, for the moment I'm really loving them together. I think Willow and Xander are my favorite characters.

Hey, two questions. One, is Xander's full name Alexander? I know a guy where that's the case. (We usually call him Xan.) Two, do Angel and Buffy end up together? Because that's what I've always heard. Neither of my parents remember though.
