A Kiss – Beverly and Picard

Beverly stood looking out of the window watching as the stars flew by. She was dressed impeccably in a light blue dress that was strapless and reached her knees; her auburn hair was slightly curled and her makeup was slight but beautiful in its simplicity.

Popping the cork out of the wine bottle, I carefully poured into the two awaiting wine glasses before picking them up and handing to her.

"I take this is the famous Picard wine I have heard so much about" said Beverly turning towards me and smiling.

Oh that smile could make any man go wild, the way the corners of her mouth upturned slightly and her pale blue eyes sparkled.

"Yep the good old 2345 that my father gave me" I said as I took a sip, this wine was perfect; it left the sweetest sensation on your tongue and seemingly flowed down your throat.

"I thought you'd never drink this," said Beverly gently taking a sip

"It's a special occasion," I said looking at her

"A special occasion?" she asked as she swirled the wine around the bottom of the glass

"25 years today, was the day I meet you" I said

Beverly looked at me and smiled, tears shining in her eyes. "Only you Jean-Luc would remember something like that"

Walking around behind the table I picked up a black case that lay on the table, handing it to her I took her wine glass putting it on the table.

Lyin' here with you so close to me

It's hard to fight these feelings when it feels so hard to breathe

I'm caught up in this moment, caught up in your smile

Opening it up Beverly immediately closed it again and her head shot up "Jean-Luc" she said pushing the box back into my hands. "I can't take this"

"Its nothing, it's a present" I said pushing the box back in her hands.

"Jean-Luc"

"Beverly"

"I can't take this Jean-Luc"

"Take it and wear it tomorrow night at the reception for the ambassadors"

Beverly opened the box to reveal a sapphire jewelled necklace that had been in my family for generations.

Gently placing the box on the table, she gently kissed me on the lips.

I've never opened up to anyone

So hard to hold back when I'm holding you in my arms

We don't need to rush this, let's just take it slow

Her lips were sweet and I could taste the wine still on her tongue. Wrapping my arms around her slim waist I pulled her close to me till she was flushed against my chest. Her arms snaked around my neck and I gently ran my hands through her slinky hair.

Breaking off for a second she gently kissed my cheek before tucking her head under my chin, I gently began untangling her auburn curls from the back of her dress. Reaching over I gently picked up the necklace that lay on the black velvet.

Gently kissing her neck I clasped it around her neck. It fitted her perfectly, and I was grateful for that fact since that necklace had been in my family for generations.

Just a kiss on your lips in the moonlight
Just a touch of the fire burning so bright
And I don't want to mess this thing up
No, I don't want to push too far

"Thank you Jean-Luc" said Beverly kissing my lips gently before tucking her head underneath my chin again.

"Computer Symphony in D minor Franck" I said

The computer complied and the sweet sounds of the instruments filled the room. As we began to sway to the beautiful melody I began closely looking at the woman in my arms.

She was silent the only sound she made was her soft breathing. I couldn't believe that I was so lucky to have this woman in my life; she helped me through the good and the bad and always called me on my mistakes.

That's what I love her for.

Just a shot in the dark that you just might
Be the one I've been waiting for my whole life
So baby, I'm alright with just a kiss goodnight

I know that if we give this a little time
It'll only bring us closer to the love we wanna find
It's never felt so real, no, it's never felt so right

That's what I love her for.

Kissing her forehead I tightened my arms around her waist. "I love you"

Just a shot in the dark that you just might
Be the one I've been waiting for my whole life
So baby, I'm alright with just a kiss goodnight

No, I don't want to say goodnight
I know it's time to leave
But you'll be in my dreams
Tonight, tonight, tonight

I felt her stiffened in my arms as she pulled away. She looked up with questionable eyes, my eyes locked onto hers. I saw love, confusion and a slight hit of fear.

"I love you Beverly Howard Crusher with all my heart, I always have and always will" I said

Leaning down I captured her lips in mine. Deepening the kiss she gave in and succumbed to my gently caressing of her neck. Breaking it off she leant her forehead against mine as we both tried to catch our breaths.

"I love you Jean-Picard and I've waited 25 years to say that" she finally said as she kissed my lips softly.

"Good" I said before kissing her lips again.

Just a kiss on your lips in the moonlight
Just a touch of the fire burning so bright
No, I don't want to mess this thing up
I don't want to push too far

Just a kiss on your lips in the moonlight
Just a touch of the fire burning so bright
And I don't want to mess this thing up
I don't want to push too far

"Thank you Jean-Luc for everything" said Beverly as we stepped apart "for supporting me, helping me and taking care of me"

"I did what Jack told me to do" I said sincerely "He told me to look after you and Wesley and I did to the bottom of my heart.

Just a shot in the dark that you just might
Be the one I've been waiting for my whole life
So baby, I'm alright

Oh, let's do this right with just a kiss goodnight
With a kiss goodnight, kiss goodnight

"I love you" I said kissing her again.
