Cemetery Song

Eden looked around the old cemetery as she took a seat on the ground, her back leaned up against the cool cement of a mausoleum. It was the middle of the night and she had only been in town for going on five months.

Brushing her dark blonde hair from her face, she thought of how she had moved away from her old town and her old life. She had grown up in a big city in California, but now she lived in a small town in the Midwest.

She missed the sunny, warm weather back home, but here she had something she didn't back home, she had friends. After enrolling in college she moved into a dorm room, which is where she had met her room mate, Ashlee.

Ashlee was into the darker scene, dressing in only black. All of her friends dressed the same way, and they spent their weekends at cemeteries and supposedly haunted locations instead of the normal college parties.

Back in California, Ashlee and her friends would have been the last people Eden would have associated with, but they had been nice to her and she liked having friends, they didn't think she was freak like everyone back home did. Eden had a secret, she could read minds. It was an ability she had possessed for as long as she could remember, all she had to do was touch someone and she could pick up their inner most thoughts. But the moment she wasn't touching them anymore, the connection was broken and the only thoughts filling her head were her own.

But she had made a promise to herself when she moved and switched schools, no one here would ever find out her secret. They would never know how much of a freak she really was.

Of course, her ability was the reason she was sitting in a haunted cemetery in the middle of the night, when all the locals would go out of their way just to avoid passing the bone yard after dark.

Her new friends had dared Eden to stay the night in the cemetery, which she declined to do until after brushing against Ashlee one night. She heard how much everyone thought she was chicken, and how they had made bets that she wouldn't have the guts to do it.

She was determined to prove them wrong, if in order to stay friends with the group she had to prove herself in some sort of messed up hazing, then she would do what she had to.

She was shaken from her thoughts when a twig snapped in the distance.

Her blue eyes wide as she looked around the darkness, when there was nothing but silence her nerves calmed a little.

But she had been on edge ever since she saw a white van as she was walking into the cemetery. It was one of those old white vans with no back windows, like the ones you see in kidnapper movies.

She wasn't sure what exactly it was, but something had just felt off to her when she saw the van.

Hearing another noise, Eden stood and started to walk over to where she thought the noise was coming from when someone pushed her to the ground.

Before she had time to react she was blindfolded and tape was put over her mouth, just as quickly, her hands were bound with rope behind her back, and she was pulled to her feet and dragged away.

She could feel two sets on hands on her, and could hear jumbled thoughts from them both, in her state of panic she couldn't get clear thoughts from them. Just some words Blood, Vampire. And a name repeated over and over in both of their thoughts, Crowley.

Eden was then tossed into the back of a van, along with five other people, all shaking in fear.

She could hear muffled cries, and terrified thoughts whenever someone's body touched her own, so she tried to scoot on her side away from them, but she found it useless as she bump into someone else.

Immediately, she tried to block all of their thoughts, and her own from her head as she attempted to solely focus on undoing the knots in the rope.

After a drive of what felt like hours, but was really only about twenty minutes, the van stopped and she could hear the doors being opened.

She was pulled out of the van and to her feet as someone grabbed her arm and pulled her with them.

Calming her nerves some, she focused in on their thoughts and was confused at what she heard.

After a short walk, the man who had a hold of her tossed her into a room where she lost her footing and fell. Shortly after she heard metal clank loudly together as if a jail cell was being shut.

Finally after a struggle she freed her hands and pulled her blindfold off, looking around she counted six other people all in the cell with her.

It was like something you'd see from a horror movie.

Bracing herself she ripped the duck tape from her mouth, wincing in pain as she did.

She considered her options, a part of her wanted to untie everyone else but then she knew it would be complete anarchy in the cell, and they very well might end up turning on each other. Remembering the thoughts of the man who brought her to the cell, she remembered the name, Crowley.

Walking over to the cell door she beat on the metal bars and yelled, "Hey! I need to talk to Crowley! Someone take me to Crowley!"

Her voice was hoarse and frantic as she spoke. She wasn't entirely sure what she would do in the event of meeting Crowley, but she hoped she could convince him to let her go.

Two men came walking down the hallway and looked at her confused.

"Please, Just let me talk to Crowley." She begged them.

"Get away from the bars." One of them told her.

"No, I just want to talk to Crowley. Can you take me to him?" She asked, her blue eyes red from panic and tears.

"I said get back!" The one snapped at her, as he displayed fully black eyes.

Gasping she jumped back away from the cell door in horror.

She was just about to start untying everyone else when she heard footsteps walking slowly up to the door, she watched as a handsome man dressed in a suit looked into the cell.

His eyes stopped on her, as she was the only one untied.

"Are you Crowley?" She asked, her voice shaky as she moved closer to the door.

"I don't believe we've met. I'd remember you." He stated, as he looked her up and down.

She swallowed hard.

"If I don't know you, how is it you seem to know my name?" He asked.

"They said you were the boss. Please, Just let me go! I won't call the police, I swear!" She begged as tears poured down her face.

Looking over his shoulder to a few of the lesser demons, Crowley turned his attention back to her.

"I'm sorry, but that won't be possible." He said, his eyes cold and emotionless.

"No, you don't understand… I'm only 21. I just started college last year. Please, I don't wanna die. I swear to God I won't call the cops, I won't tell anyone." She said, her words stopping as tears streamed down her face. She had never felt more helpless.

"Why should I let you go? What makes you any more important than any of them?" He questioned, nodding towards the other people in the cell.

"If you kill me, you'll never know what else they told me." She said, raising an eyebrow as she tried to bargain with him.

Opening the cell he grabbed her arm, pulled her from the room and started down the hallway dragging her along side him as another demon shut and relocked the holding cell.

Crowley looked over at the girl, she was scared he could easily tell that. But she seemed like she was focused on something as they walked towards an empty room.

He had sent the demons out to pick up some people for food for the vampires and other monsters who consumed and lived off of human blood or flesh. He needed to keep them alive until he had gotten all the information he needed about Purgatory.

He was just going to toss her in with the rest of them, but she had the will to survive, he could tell that. And what exactly had these other demons told her. One way or another, he was going to find out what this young, beautiful girl knew.
