Comments: I've always believed that actions speak louder than words.
He knew that he'd marry her the day they met. She was a quiet girl, strong and independent. She never said much, seeing as she didn't have anybody to talk to. But, seeing her nearly every day made him look forward to his studies in flame alchemy.
She wasn't sure what to think of him when he walked through the door of her father's house. He was a determined young man, taking a no-nonsense interest in his studies, yet he took the time to talk to her when he wasn't studying. And, she had to admit he was also a little unorthodox, but it was his smile and kindness that won her over.
They were married before either had even voiced a proposal. They just knew. Before the military had separated and then reunited them under unfortunate circumstances. After he had voiced his goal to protect the country. After she promised she'd follow him to Hell if he so wished.
Neither had to tell the other what they felt for each other; their actions said enough. His saving her life countless times. Her following him every step of the way without questioning his reasons. His entrusting her to be his voice of reason if he dared stray from his path. Her unvoiced request that he never give up.
Maybe someday he'd formally propose and give her the ring. But, for now this marriage they had... this marriage of silent vows and solemn promises... was enough.
