Batman and Robin jumped over the roofs of Gotham getting ready to take down the next baddie. Batman looked over to his adoptive son picking up something strange.
"Robin are you okay?"
"I'm fine, just tired. You know training and missions with team and patrol here will do that, but I'm totally fine, whelmed even."
"Okay, but if you start getting too tired you're going home, got it Dick?"
Robin knew Batman was being serious when he used his first name when they were out on patrol. Batman never did that.
"Um, Bruce? I think I should go back now then, because I don't feel so well."
Batman walked over to his son and placed a hand on his forehead.
"You have a fever and a bad one at that. I'll take you home."
"No, it's fine I can go home by myself. This heist that's going down tonight needs to be stopped. I won't be the reason we didn't take the bad guys down. That would be so disasterous, Hevy on the 'dis'."
Batman stared at Robin warily.
"I don't want you alone at knight by yourself. I'll take you home."
Batman turned around and startend to walk across the roof back towards the alley where he parked the Batmobile. Robin followed him. The boy's sluggish footsteps could be heard behind Batman, then they abruptly stopped. Batman turned around. Robin was gone. Lying on the rooftop was a card. Batman knelt down and picked it up and turned it over. On the card was writng.
Another birdie, huh Brucie? So you want this kid dead too? Let me do the job.
Batman's breathing hitched in his throat. Jason.
