Rayleigh sat there with dumbfounded look on his face. "A what?"

"A baby, I'm going to have a kid." Roger said while grinning from ear to ear.

Rayleigh and Roger were standing out in the exercise yard of the Impel Correction Facility. The two were inmates and long time partners in crime. From cons to robberies the two had some real misadventures in the past. However now they were stuck paying for their crimes after finally being caught.

There was then a long silence as Rayleigh tried to let this all sink in. For as long as he had known the man, he never expected those words to ever come from him."Roger, you do know men can't have babies, right?"

"My wife is having the baby, you dumbass!" Roger nearly shouted with a hint of a blush. He cleared his throat and tried to calm down when he noticed a few nearby guards tensed. He had been doing the best he could to be on good behavior. Anything that could mean the possibility of getting out early somehow.

Though, this did cause some setbacks. With Roger being so quiet, this led to people becoming suspicious that he was up to something. This in turn ended up with him being approached by other inmates wanting to know what the 'plan' was. Was it that hard to believe that really he wasn't up to something?

"You have a wife?" Rayleigh said with a look of disbelief. To say this was a bit of a shock would be an understatement. Not because Roger didn't tell him, that man always would forget to mention certain details. "Someone married you and hasn't killed you yet?"

"Well, we're not exactly married yet." Roger said with a small laugh, while scratching the back of his head.

"Then she's not your wife..." Rayleigh said with a sigh. "Moron..." When the retort he was expecting didn't come, Rayleigh started to become a little worried. "You're actually serious, aren't you?"

His old friend gave a nod. "We plan on making it official when I get out of here." Roger said with a smile on his face. "She's waiting for me, can you believe it?"

"Not really..." Rayleigh said as he rubbed the back of his neck. This was a hard concept for him to picture. His best friend, Roger of all people, was going to have a kid and get hitched? "I was kind of thinking you were joking."

"Why would I joke about something like that?" Roger said with a raised eyebrow.

Rayleigh gave a shrug. "You were never good at jokes."

"Hey!" Roger then pouted slightly. "I can make her laugh, at least."

"Then she either has a poor sense of humor or she's pitying you."

Roger scowled. "You're a real jackass, Ray..."

"I love you too, honey." Rayleigh said with a smirk.

Again the two became silent, both of them aware of a crucial detail that they were both reluctant to talk about.

"You have quite a few years left on your sentence though..." Rayleigh said in a serious tone. "You sure it's fair to make them wait for you like that?"

"I know that, and no, it's not fair at all." Roger looked upwards towards the sky. He was wondering what she was doing right now. Was she picking out baby clothes? Was she looking up names? Was she lonely? Did she secretly hate him? It's amazing, just how this kind of news can change a person.
