Author's note: Well guess which story won the poll? That's right, you guess it, this one. However a sudden bought of inspiration that hit me, prompted me to write the next chapter of Invisible Illness which should be up sometime this week. Yay for no school!

All of the italics takes place on Wednesday, May 25, 2011. All of the present day, non italicized parts take place on Friday, May 27, 2011.

Back in present day, Kurt and Blaine were still lying on the bed, staring up at the ceiling trying to make some sense of what had happened over the past week.

"You know, I was expecting Carole to have a shit fit when you showed up at the hospital with those papers." Blaine chuckled from where he lay on the bed. Kurt gave a small snort in return.

"I know. But I still don't see how she thought she could get away with any of it?" Kurt sighed as he thought back to the past few days, and in particular, the day that Carole attempted to pull the plug on his father.

"She's a bitch, what do you expect?"

Kurt, Blaine and Finn had been talking in the hallway for about 30 minutes, when Julia and another doctor came up to them. Kurt looked Julia in the face, as did Blaine, and they both knew what was about to happen. She smiled, reassuring him that everything was going to be okay. The five of them entered the room without uttering a single word, and when they got in, Carole looked up from where she was sitting on the other side of the room. Her head had been down, as if she was praying, but Kurt saw a glowing light on her lap and he mentally scoffed at her attempt at showing how devoted she was to her husband.

The other Doctor that had come in with Julia walked up to Carole and began to speak. "We're sorry Mrs. Hummel, but we cannot allow you to pull the plug on your husband at this time." He said, as he checked on a few of Burt's vital signs and tubes.

"Why not?" She shouted at the doctor, and Julia stepped in to answer her question.

"There's an injunction preventing us from doing so." She smiled angelically.

"Well where is it? Let me see it!" Carole shouted at the two doctors, who shook their heads.

"Sorry Mrs. Hummel, but we don't have it right this minute." The other doctor said, and finally Kurt had gotten a look at his badge, and saw that his name was Dr. Lopez.

"My husband called ahead and is on his way here with the injunction as we speak." Julia told her, ready to call security the moment Carole threw a fit, like they all knew she would.

"Why would your husband be involved?" Carole asked, clearly having forgotten just who Julia is, and her connection to Kurt.

"Because I asked him to." Kurt spoke up from where he was standing a few feet away, and behind Julia.

"What?" Carole shrieked, and Dr. Lopez shushed her, reminding her to keep it down, or she'd be asked to leave.

"You have no legal right to pull the plug on my father." Kurt said officially, digging into his bag to pull out the papers he'd photocopied earlier in the day.

"Of course I do. I'm his wife, that's my legal right." Carole said indignantly, but Kurt shook his head.

"Not according to this." He handed her Burt's living will, which clearly stipulated that only Kurt was allowed to make that decision.

"What the hell?" Carole shouted, and Dr. Lopez once again reminded her to keep it down.

"It's Dad's living will." Kurt spoke slowly. "It states that I'm the only one allowed to make life and death decisions for him." He smirked at the rage clearly present on her face.

"That's preposterous. This cannot be legal." She whispered, finally heeding the doctor's orders to keep it quiet.

"Oh I assure you, it is." Julia grinned as she pulled Kurt to her side.

"I won't let you kill my father, just to get half of the shop." Kurt stated, and Carole glared at him, and then stopped as if she'd actually heard what he had said.

"What do you mean? He has life insurance, I know because I paid that bill every month." Carole said matter of factly, to which Kurt just laughed.

"Of which goes entirely to me upon his death, not you. Not to mention that the shop is already half mine, and do you really think his will doesn't state that the rest goes to me either?" He shook his head at Carole's naivety.

"You little shit."

"Should have made sure he changed everything when you got married. But sadly, you didn't and now you can't do a damn thing about it." Kurt grinned while Blaine just looked on in amazement at the boy in front of him who was taking on a woman twice his age, who'd abused him, and hurt him, and did everything she could to make his life miserable, and now he was finally getting the chance to take her down a peg or two.

"Sorry Ma'am, but there's nothing we can do about it." Dr. Lopez said in an unapologetic fashion.

"You will be sorry!" Carole screamed, and grabbed her coat and ran out of the room with her proverbial tail in between her legs and her cellphone in hand.

"Should we be worried?" Kurt asked the room at large, and Blaine shook his head, and wrapped his arms around Kurt's shoulders.

"I don't know…"

"No." Julia said with confidence. "Martin will work all of this out."

"I just can't believe what she did next. She's a fucking psychopath, and honest to god, she needs to be locked up." Kurt shook his head as he remembered what his oh so darling step-mother had done after finding out that she lost all legal rights to end her husband's life.

"Seriously, like she could crack a safe."

It was a couple of hours later, and Julia had come in to check on Burt's bandages once more, while Blaine, Kurt and Finn sat in the room with Burt, talking softly about how the day had played out so far. Finn had just gotten through apologizing for what was like the 10th time, when Kurt's phone rang. He picked it up, only to find out it was one of the men from Burt's shop.

"Kurt! Hey it's Ollie from the shop… your uhh… your stepmom is here trying to break into the same." He said in a hushed voice, clearly trying to keep the call a secret from Carole.

"What? Stop her!" Kurt practically screamed, and everyone turned to look at him and wonder what was going on.

"We've tried…" He explained. "But she's vicious when angry." He says, fearful for his heatlh.

"Tell me about it." Kurt mutters. "Did you call the police at least?"

"Already did. Just thought you ought to know. They're not here yet, but you might want to get over here. She's already grabbed the blow torch, and is trying to get in as we speak." Ollie warned him, and Kurt immediately began grabbing his things.

"Thanks Ollie, I'll be there as soon as I can." He hung up the phone, and looked at everyone in the room. "Carole's trying to break into my dad's safe!" He exclaimed, before grabbing Blaine's hand and rushing from the room. Kurt was hot on their heels.

"What?" Blaine asked, trying to keep up with his boyfriend.

"She's trying to destroy the papers so there's no evidence of Dad's wishes." Kurt told him, knowing precisely the only reason Carole would need to break into the safe.

"How do you know that?" Finn asked catching up to the two of them with his longer legs. "Who told you?"

"Ollie from the shop, he… he just called and told me that she's taking a blow torch to the safe…. Luckily the cops are on their way, but we need to go, now." He drags Blaine out of the hospital, once again with Finn on his heels.

It didn't take them long to get to the shop, and when they got there, the shop had two cop cars already there, and Kurt rushed into the building, but one of the officers stopped him. "Sorry kid, but you can't go in there." He held him off, and Kurt groaned in aggravation.

"Listen officer, that's my family's shop in there. I'm part owner of the building, and the company that resides within it, so let me through!" He shouts, pushing past the officer, who didn't attempt to stop him, but did prevent Finn and Blaine from getting through. They were stuck standing outside waiting to see what happened, and it's probably a good thing that they were, because the sight that Kurt saw when he entered the building, wasn't something Finn should have seen.

Carole was in handcuffs. She saw Kurt standing there, and immediately her face softened. "Oh Kurt, please. Tell them who I am." She pleaded with him. It was almost as if the past seven months hadn't even happened. Kurt skewered his eyes as he looked at the scene in front of him. "Tell them I'm your step mother, please Kurt. Don't let them arrest me." She was practically begging him, and he knew that the ball was in his court. He knew that he had a chance to make her pay for everything that she'd done to him over the past year, so he made his decision. It wasn't a decision he made lightly. It wasn't even a decision he wanted to make, but he made it all the same:

"No idea."

The next chapter should be up sometime between now and Christmas...
