Don't own anything save the story! :D
Paint flowed across the canvas, colorful splatters all across the thick, white parchment. Short brown locks fell into the eyes of the artist, causing her to smear paint on her face when she tucked the loose strands away. The tip of her pink tongue peeked through her rosy lips, eyebrows furrowed and paintbrush clutched in her stained hands. She had been working on the painting for nearly the whole day, and was determined to finish it. Nothing could break her out of the trance she was in, not even stopping when her mother came in with tea and her favorite cookies. She stared at the painting, fully concentrating on her work - not hearing the door of her bedroom creak open and someone step inside. She sighed in frustration, crossing her arms and stepping back to survey her work. Suddenly, two arms were around her waist, startling her out of her artistic reverie.
"Eugene, what are you-"
"Beautiful." He stated, breath tickling her cheek as he swayed them gently back and forth, easily dissipating her annoyance at him.
"You think so?" She asked, tone changing, emerald eyes big and hopeful as she craned her neck to look at him. "I thought I used too, much green, and this tree is crooked and -"
"I wasn't talking about the painting."
Blood rushed to her face as he looked down on her, his chocolate eyes shining and a soft smile on his face. She turned away, trying to hide the blush evident on her face. "Oh."
He chuckled, turning her around in his arms, the paint from her hands smearing on the sleeves of his shirts. She pulled away, trying to get free of his grasp.
"I have to finish my painting!" She protested, pushing against his chest, leaving hand prints there. "Eug-"
Suddenly, his lips were upon hers, soft as rose petals, and tasting of the pies they had for dessert the other night. She vaguely wondered if he had been in the pantry - the painting forgotten as he kissed her gently, her struggling ceasing as she melted into him. He smiled into the kiss, tightening his arms around her waist as her petite hand trailed the length of his arms. He pulled away, keeping her tucked close to him. She smiled mischievously at him, standing on the tips of her toes to get closer to his face.
"You're such a distraction, Eugene."
He smirked at her, their noses nearly touching. He rested his forehead on hers, their breaths mingling.
"But you love me just the same."
