It was nighttime when Fionna and Cake returned Marshall Lee to his own house, while Psychic Princess was arrested for kidnapping.
"So you knew it was Psychic Princess the whole time?" Fionna asked
"Of course," Marshall Lee said "it was plainly obvious."
"Then why'd you go with her?" Fionna asked
"I wanted to see just how long she could keep up her charade," the vampire explained "though I did not count on her being so violent."
Marshall Lee lowered himself down onto his bed.
"I'm gonna go raid the kitchen now." Cake said
The cat left for the kitchen.
"She's in for a disappointment," Marshall Lee said "I haven't gone grocery shopping yet."
"Eh," Fionna said "she'll eat anything, even butter if she has too."
"I'm all out of butter." Marshall stated
"She'll find something." Fionna said
The Vampire King turned to face her.
"I always knew you were earnest," he said sincerely "but I never really knew just how epic you really were."
"I can be pretty epic." Fionna snickered coyly
Cake peered into the room intently, eating a piece of bread.
"I have to ask though," Marshall Lee inquired "if you were not jealous, then why are you so protective of me?"
Fionna reddened slightly.
Cake continued watching as she snacked on her bread slice.
"I...I'm generally protective of all my friends." she stated
"I should've known that." Marshall said
"Yeah," Fionna proclaimed "I care about all my allies, especially you..."
"Sorry you had to...assist me." Marshall Lee said meekly
"Don't worry about it, I'm used to...assisting...guys." Fionna replied
Marshall Lee thought about it.
"Wierd," he said "it was the other way around like...fifteen-hundred years ago."
"Well tomorrow we can just do something to put this whole day behind us." Fionna said
"Example?" Marshall Lee asked
"We'll...we'll do your grocery shopping!" Fionna proclaimed
"Good call." Marshall said
Cake watched closely as she shoved the rest of the bread slice in her mouth.
Marshall Lee threw his head down on his pillow.
"But..." he yawned "we're still just friends right?"
"Huh?" Fionna responded "...oh yeah...yeah...we're just...friends."
"Ah!" Cake groaned aloud in disappointment
Fionna looked back at her.
"Should I go back to the kitchen?" Cake wondered
"Please." Fionna stated
The cat went back to the kitchen.
Fionna turned back around and saw that Marshall Lee had fallen asleep.
Fionna inched closer to the vampire's bed, then she laid her head on his mattress.
"Just...friends." she sighed unsurely, before fallinging asleep
Cake walked back to the room after devouring Marshall's bread supply.
"He has to go shopping anyway." she mumbled
She entered the room and found Marshall Lee asleep in bed, with Fionna sleeping on the floor leaning against the bed with her head on the mattress.
"Aww..." Cake sighed
The cat stretched over next to Fionna and curled up on the floor with an empty bread bag, then fell asleep.
The trio slept that way all night long.
In the morning, Fionna woke up and found herself in the same spot she had fallen asleep last night.
She pulled away from the bed as Marshall Lee awke aswell.
Cake stretched as she woke up, still with the bread bag at hand.
"Good morning, everyone." she yawned
"I guess we all fell asleep." Fionna said awkwardly
"It was a surprisingly good sleep." Cake stated
"Cake," Marshall Lee questioned "did you eat all of my bread?"
Cake stood motionless while looking around.
"No." she stated
"The empty bread sack is in your paws." Marshall pointed out
"Mice did it!" Cake declared "I caught them in the act, and chased them off!"
"Let's go shopping," Fionna said, then looked at Marshall Lee "I will buy you more bread."
"Cool." Marshall stated
I would have ended it at the sleeping part, but I decided to end it with the bread thing at the last minute.
