I sat in the passenger seat next to Roy as he drove me home from the movies. We had been dating for a period of a year now and we were celebrating with dinner and a movie, Roy's treat. I looked out the window seeing the darkened woods that we had to drive though to get to my house.
The car slowly putted to a stop.
"What's wrong?" I asked Roy as he unbuckled to get out of the car.
"Don't know. I'll check." He closed the car door and lifted the hood. After a few minutes of tinkering with the engine, he closed the hood and hopped back in the driver's seat to start the car.
It didn't crank.
Roy grabbed his navy blue jacket and stepped out of the car.
"Where are you going?" I asked concerned.
"I'm just going to find some help. Don't worry, I'll be back. Roll up the windows and lock the doors, though." Roy smiled and kissed my cheek.
I obeyed Roy's instructions, locking doors and rolling up windows. I took a deep breath and sat still, waiting for Roy to come back. I waited and waited.
I checked my watch. He left almost an hour ago, now it was two in the morning with no sign of him. I was getting scared. Everything was dark, the only light coming from the full moon. I looked down in my lap to see a shadow. I looked up, wondering if Roy was back. I didn't see my lover Roy, but a strange, crazy-looking man smiling at me. I back up closer to my side of the car, away from the creep. I see something in his right hand, but I was more concerned about the crazy looking straight at me.
He sticks his face against the window, still smiling, and slowly pull up his right hand.
It was Roy's decapitated head, twisted horribly in pain and shock.
I shut my eyes in horror and tried to make the image go away. I felt sick, and vomited in the floorboard. I looked up at the man again.
This time, the man wore a bigger smile. He slowly lifted his left hand, he was holding Roy's keys... to the car.
