"I'm home!" Emma called as she walked into her and her family's large home and took off her jacket. Silence greeted her as she checked around the first floor for anyone. Seeing the time, she knew at least her son had to be awake, it was only eight. She jogged up the steps to the curved staircase to knock on Henry's ajar door.
The light was off and the bed was untouched.
Frowning, Emma crept throughout the house, one hand on her service weapon, slowly making her way to the room she shared with her wife. Carefully she placed her hand on the doorknob, twisting it with a quick flick of her wrist. She pushed open the door and took in the room.
It with bathed in a soft glow coming from a lamp on the other side of the massive area. Lying in her bed was the three people that meant more than the world to her. Henry was on his side, his sixteen year old body dressed only in sweats and a tank top. Adeline, a three year old girl who was the carbon copy of Regina, was sprawled out with one leg hanging off the bed and her head on Regina's hand. Emma stifled a laugh at her children and turned her gaze to their Mother.
The blonde's face softened. Her wife was in the middle of the bed, one arm around Henry to keep him smushed into her side and the other cradling Adeline's skull to feel if the girl was moving too far. A loose pair of Emma's sweats hung around her legs and a tee shirt that belonged to Henry stretched across her swelling tummy with Henry's fairy tale book resting on top of it.
All three were fast asleep, only a quarter through the book.
Emma quietly unclipped her gun, locking it up in a metal box in a high closet shelf. Slipping her boots off and her pants to grab a pair of shorts, Emma lifted her daughter to get into bed next to her wife. Moving Adeline startled Regina who startled Henry. Both of them stared at Emma with confused, tired eyes as she got into bed, placing the sleeping girl on her chest.
"Go back to sleep." She murmured to them. She couldn't imagine what had gone on that day to make all three of her people exhausted (though she could guess for Regina), but the way Mother and son instantly fell back asleep told her it was energy consuming.
Before letting sleep hit her, she leaned over and kissed the stretching skin covering her unborn baby, whispering goodnight.
