"How did you get that scar?"

"Which one, dear?" The two women are in Regina's bed with Emma watching the older woman read. The blonde traced her eyes over her lover's body, catching things she missed during their heated make-out sessions and passionate encounters.

Her gaze snagged on every scar it saw, wondering how and why it happened. She was surprised to find that Regina's skin wasn't as smooth and unblemished as she thought. Marks of different varieties were etched into the lightly tanned skin. "This one." She let her fingertip trace a strange shaped scar on her abdomen.

Regina placed her book down on the side table with a sigh. Emma was notorious for bugging her about things until she answered. The only way to get back to her book was to answer the blonde woman's questions.

"An arrow."

"How though?" She outlined the old scar. Regina shivered at the contact and the story behind it.

"I was visiting a good friend of mine and she wasn't pleased to see me." Regina told her. "She ordered my carriage to be ambushed. No matter, I've paid her back for this." The Evil Queen frowned at the memory though, remembering when Maleficent found her right after she had been shot by the damn arrow and viciously tore it from her body.

"And this one?" The blonde Sheriff asked, touching the white skin underneath the woman's right breast. It was thin and barely noticeable, but Emma could see it.

"I was riding one morning, my horse spooked and threw me into a river. One of the rocks pierced my chest and broke off inside me. The healers in my village had to open the wound up further to extract the rock." Regina grimaced. She remembers calling for her Father, screaming in agony as the blade bit and sliced her skin.

Seeing that the other woman was becoming uncomfortable, she leaned up and kissed the only scar she was curious about. The brunette could sense the question and refused to answer. Pulling away from the younger woman, she turned off the light, lying down to go to sleep without a word said to her partner. "Regina?"

"I don't want to talk about it, Emma." She had hoped the blonde would pick up on her need to not talk about, but that was apparently asking too much.

"If you keep it bottled up, it'll eat away at you." The blonde said softly, wrapping an arm around Regina, gently forcing her onto her back. Emma smiled at her and kissed the scar above her lip once more.

"If I tell you who, but not how, can you leave it be?"

"For tonight." She agreed.

"My Mother." She quickly flipped over to keep Emma from seeing the pain in her eyes, but she had seen it anyway. She held the Evil Queen close to her own body, kissing her bare shoulder as way of apology for bringing up something that deeply pained the older woman.
