"You'r kidding me, right?" the bouncer said chuckling, folding his muscular arms across his massive chest. He stared down at the boy in the black zip up jacket and shook his shaved head. "You cannot bring that thing in here."

The seventy or so teenagers lined up outside the Muinomednap Club leaned closer to listen. It was a half an hour wait to get into an all ages club,a longer wait on a friday. Not much generally happend in line. The bouncers were brutal and would pounce on anyone who looked like they would stir up trouble. Seven-teen year old Jace, standing in line with his best friend ,Sidney, leaned forwards with everyone els.

"Aw, come on, Its a part of my costume." The kid hoisted the wooden beam over his head. It was sharpend on both ends and looked like a stake.
The bouncer raised an eyebrow , the way ive always wanted to do. "Which is what?"
The boy grinned. He was normal-enough-looking, Jace thought, for the Muinomednap. He had lime green dyed hair that stuck up around his head, he kinda looked like a lion, Jace thought. Then he thought of a lion with green hair, he shook the stupid idea out of his head and continued listening.

"I'm a vampire hunter, see?" He pushed the stake down on the ground. It bent easily, as a blade of grass bending sideways.
The boys eyes were a too bright blue, Jace noticed: the colour of a lightning strike. Coloured contact lenses, probably. The bouncer sighed, abruptly bored. "Fine, whatever, go ahead.
The boy slid past him, quick as an eel. There was a word his mother would have used for him-insouciant.
"You thought he was cute, didn't you?" Jace asked, sounding disgusted. Sidney dug her elbow in his ribcage but didn't answer.
Inside, the club was filled with smoke and dry ice. The coloured lights danced around the room, transforming it into a colourf illed utopia.

The boy in the black jacket caressed the razor sharp blade in his hands, a emotionless smile played on his lips. It had been so easy- a little glamour on the blade and BAM he was in. He could have gotten in himself but it was fun tricking the mundie's. Not that human's didn't have their uses. The boy's blue eyes scanned the dance floor, where small limbs clad in scraps of silk and black leather appeared and disappeared inside the revolving columns as the mundie's danced. Girls tossed their long hair, boys swung their clad hips, and bare skin glittered with sweat. Vitality just poured off them, It was almost too much to handle, almost.

They didn't know how lucky they were. They didn't know what it was like to eke life in a dead world, where the sun hung dry limp in the sky like a burned cinder. Their lived burned as bright as a candle- and blew out just as easily.

His hand tightened on the blade as he started to make his way towards the dance floor when a girl broke away from the mass of sweating body's, she began walking towards him. He stared at her. She was beautiful, for a human- long hair nearly the precise colour of black ink, charcoaled eyes. Floor length white gown, the kind of gown woman used to wear when the world was still younger. Lace sleeves belled out at the wrists. Around her neck was a pink pendant, about the size of a baby's fist. He only had to narrow his eyes a bit to see that the pendant was real- real and precious. The pendant pulsed like a beating heart. She smiled, passing him, alluring him with her eyes. He turned to follow her, see the life leaving her eyes, taste her life sizzling through his veins.

Humans were so stupid. They had something precious then they barely safe guarded it at all. They threw away their lives for money, packets of powder, a strangers charming smile. The girl was as pale as a ghost. She reached the wall bunching up her skirt in her hands, lifting the gown until you could see that she was wearing thigh high boots.

He sauntered up to her, his skin prickling from the heat of her close she wasn't so perfect: he could see the mascara under her eyes, the beads of sweat trickling down her forehead. He could smell her mortality, the sweet aroma of corruption. Got you. He thought.

A cool smile curled her lips. She moved away, and he could see that she was leaning against a closed door. NO ADMITTANCE-STORAGE was written across the door in red paint. She reached for the nob behind her, turned it, then slid inside. He caught a sight of stacked boxes, tangled wires. A storage room. He checked behind him- no one was looking. So much better if she wanted privacy. He slipped inside after her, unaware that he was being followed.

"So," Sidney said,"pretty good music, eh?" Jace didn't reply. They were dancing sort of- a lot of swaying back and forth with occasional lunges towards the floor as if someone had dropped a contact lens- in a space in between a group of teenage boys in metallic corsets, and a young Asian couple making out passionately, their coloured hair extensions tangled together, they were going to have fun pulling that apart Jace said feeling more envious then ever.

A boy with a nose piercing and a teddy bear backpack was handing out free tablets of Ecstasy, his parachute pants flipping in the breeze from the wind machine just behind him. Jace wasn't paying much attention to his surroundings- his eyes were on the green haired freak who had talked him way into the club. He was moving through the people like he was looking for something. There was something familiar about the way he moved...
"I for one" said Sidney, "am enjoying the club immensely."

This seemed very unlikely. Sidney, as always, stuck out like a sore thumb, in a pair of faded jeans and an old tee-shirt that said 'made in china ' across the front. With her glasses perched crookedly on her nose. She looked more as if she were going to chess club and less as if she were going to an actual club.

"Mmm-hmm," Jace knew perfectly well that she only came to the Muinomednap because Jace liked it, that she thought it was boring.

The green haired boy was making his way off the dance floor. He looked a little a lost. Suddenly he straightened up, snapping to attention, like a hunting dog on point. Jace followed his line of gaze and saw the girl in the white dress. Oh wow. Jace thought, trying not to drool.

The girl was gorgeous, the kind of girl Jace would have liked to draw- tall and ribbon slim with a long spill of black hair. Even at this distance Jace could see the pink pendant pulsing at her throat.

"I feel," Sidney went on " That DJ Bat is doing a singularly job. Don't you agree?" Jace rolled his eyes and didn't answer; Sidney despised trance music. His attention was on the girl in the white dress. Through the darkness, smoke and artificial fog her pale dress shone out like a beacon.

No wonder why the green haired boy followed her. Hell knows I would have, Jace thought. He slowed his dance and stared. He could just make out that the shape's were a boy and a girl, tall and short and wearing completely black. He couldn't have said how he knew that they weren't following the other boy, but he did. he could see it in the way they moved, their careful watchfulness, the slinking grace of their movements, their line of gaze...

"Meanwhile," Sidney added, " I wanted to tell you that lately ive been cross dressing. Also I am sleeping with Luke I thought you should know."

The girl in the starteling white dress reached the wall and she was opening a door marked NO ADMITTAMCE-STORAGE. She lured the green haired boy after her, and they slipped through the door. It wasn't anything Jace hadn't seen before, a couple sneaking off to the dark corners of a club to make-out but what made it weird was that they were being followed.

The two people had stopped at the door and seemed to be conferring with each other. One of them, the girl, had bright red hair, the other, the boy, had black hair. The red haired one reached into her pocket and drew out something long and sharp that flashed under the bright lights. A knife.

"Sidney." Jace shouted and siezed her arm. "What?" Sidney looked alramed. "I'm not actually sleeping with Luke, you know. I just said that to get your attention."

"Do you see those two people? A red haired girl and a black haired boy?" He pointed wildly almost hitting a curvy black girl dancing nearby. The girl shot him a dirty look which turned into a flitful gaze. "Sorry-sorry." Jace turned back to Sidney. "Do you see them over there? By the door?" Sidney squinted, then shrugged." I don't see anything."

"There are two of them. They were following the guy with the green hair, the one thought was cute. The red head, she pulled a knife."
"Ar-are you sure?" Sidney squinted again, harder, shaking her head. "I dont see anything."
"Im sure."

Suddenly all business, Sidney squared her shoulders. " I'll get one of the security guards. You stay here." She strode away, pushing through the crowd.

Jace sighed then chuckled. "Always the hero." He said under his breath.

Jace turned just in time to see the red head slip through the NO ADMITTANCE door, her friend right on her heel. He looked around and sighed again. Sidney was still trying to push her way through the crowd, but she wasn't getting very far. Even if she yelled now, no one would hear her, and by the time she got to the guards something terrible might have already happened. Biting hard on the inside of his cheek, Jace started to shove his way through the crowd.

"Whats your name?" She turned and smiled. What faint light there was in the storage room spilled down through the high window. "Isabelle."
"What a nice name." he walked toward her, stepping over the electrical wires. In the faint light she looked half transparent, bleached of colour, wrapped in white like an angel. It would be a pleasure to make her fall...

"I haven't seen you here before."

"Your asking me if I come here often?" She giggled, covering her mouth with her palm. There was some sort of bracelet around her wrist, just under the cuff of her dress- then, as he neared her, he saw that it wasn't a bracelet at all but patterns inked into her skin like a tattoo. He froze.

"You-" He didn't finish. She moved with lightning speed, striking out at him with her open hand, a blow to the chest that would have sent him down gasping if he'd been a human being. He staggered backwards, and now there was something in her hand, it looked like a curling snake but in all reality it was a coiling whip that glittered gold as she flicked her wrist.

Suddenly the whip was coiled around the boy's ankle, biting deep into his skin. She laughed and flicked her wrist again. He hit the ground, he should have known, no girls now a day would wear a dress that covered her skin, all of it.
Isabelle yanked on the whip once again securing it. She smiled once more than looked up "he is all yours."
A laugh sounded from behind him, and now there were hands pulling him into a standing position. Small hands. The person pushed him frontwards into the stone wall. His hands were pulled behind his back, his wrists were bound behind him with wire.

While he struggled, someone walked around behind him and straight into his line of sight: a girl with bright red hair, small and just as young as Isabelle and just as pretty. Her eye's were a bright green and glittered like emeralds. "So," the girl started,"are there anymore with you?"
The green haired boy could feel blood welling up under the too tight metal, making his wrists slippery."Any other what?"The boy spat back.

"Come on now." The redhead said. Taunting and teasing him. She pulled up the black sleeves of her sweater. Showing off her inked runes."You know what I am."
He bared his teeth at her and hissed, "shadow hunter."
The other boy in the room smiled then said, "Got you."

So that's the end for this chappy :) hope you all liked it .
