Lisa was sitting in the park sketching. Hector was sitting on a nearby bench. He came over and starting talking.

He looks at me. I fake a smile so he won't see that I want and I need everything that we should be.

They were just friends, but Lisa knew they had potential.

I bet she's beautiful, that girl he talks about.

Lisa had never met Alicia, but she had heard loads from Hector.

And she's got everything that I have to live without.

Hector, popularity, not being clumsy…

He talks to me.

Hector said something about a history paper, but it didn't register.

I laugh cause it's just so funny that I can't even see anyone when he's with me.

It would just be the two of them. Then someone (generally Jessica or Keith) would ruin the moment without realizing that there was a moment.

He says he's so in love. He's finally got it right.

Hector had dated a lot of girls; most of them weren't worth it.

I wonder if he knows he's all I think about at night.

Lisa would sit in bed, slowly making it through her musical collection. First was Wicked, then RENT, Secret Garden, AVPM, Les Miserables, Wonderland, Phantom of the Opera, Mary Poppins, The Lion King, and she generally fell asleep halfway through Guys and Dolls.

He's the reason for the teardrops on my guitar.

She kept strumming John Denver songs.

The only thing that keeps me wishing on a wishing star.

Lisa would look up to the heavens and whisper,

"Please. Let him notice me. Please."

He's the song in the car I keep singing, don't know why I do.

She had had crushes before and had gotten over them in a few days. Why couldn't she get over Hector?

A Different Day…..

Hector and Alicia were walking down the street.

He walks by me.

Her chest tightened and she felt dizzy.

Can't he tell that I can't breathe? And there he goes, so perfectly; the kind of flawless I wish I could be. She better hold him tight.

Holding him with her perfect little arms.

Give him all her love,

Which was probably about a teaspoon.

Look in those beautiful eyes,

Those blue eyes that haunted her dreams.

And know she's lucky, cause he's the reason for the teardrops on my guitar.

They would roll down the wood and onto her lap.

The only thing that keeps me wishing on a wishing star. He's the song in the car I keep singing, don't know why I do.

Lisa tried to get over him, but she couldn't .

She decided to get in her car and drive to the lake. Someone else was there.

"Please. Let him notice me. Please." It was a familiar voice coming from a very familiar person; holding onto a shell, black hair flying in the wind.

"Jessica?"

"Lisa, what are you doing here?"

"I just came to think. Who do you want to notice you?" she started to blush. It really didn't matter, Lisa thought. After all, she had a feeling it was Keith. Especially since Jessica kept "disappearing" whenever Keith's girlfriend, Penny, was around.

So I drive home alone.

Lisa walked into her apartment and went straight to her room.

As I turn out the light, I'll put his picture down and maybe get some sleep tonight

This week, she had watched Despicable Me, Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back, and Bedknobs and Broomsticks. One each night.

Cause he's the reason for the teardrops on my guitar.

It was stained, just like her walls.

The only one who's got enough of me to break my heart.

Hector knew her so well, yet he could be so oblivious.

He's the song in the car I keep singing, don't know why I do.

She just didn't understand.

The Next Day…..

She was in the library reading a book. Hector was at a nearby table. He looked up and grinned.

He looks at me. I fake a smile so he won't see.
