Notes: It's been forever since I've updated this! I'm currently working on finishing my other fic, so I'm sorry for the terrible wait! The beginning of season two was sort of meh for me, but the short Wan arc really hyped me up for whatever's next. I hope you guys are as excited as me because now that Korra knows something, there's (hopefully) a lot of development for her in the next episodes.

#6: fringe (Mako)

"Oh, shut up!"

But the thing is that he can't. He can't help having a fit of boisterous laughter—even if he is beginning to sound like a maniac. Because Korra with fringes covering her whole forehead isn't a usual sight anywhere in the world, and Mako is determined to get the most out of seeing his girlfriend in such a state.

"I swear I am going to kill Eska," she murmurs, continuing to glare at her reflection in the mirror.

"I think it looks good on you," he tries to breathe between his laughs. "I should probably thank your cousin for you."

Korra's intent glare meets his jaunty golden eyes.

"You wouldn't dare."

"To be fair, you tried to steal her fiancé from her."

"I was helping Bolin! You wouldn't want your one and only brother to be married off to someone like her!"

Mako shrugs. "He chose to pursue her. Not my problem anymore. He probably thought the same when we got together."

Korra raises a brow at him—or at least, it looks like she is; he can't really tell with how her thick hair almost covers her eyes. "What is that supposed to mean?"

The snigger he is supposed to let out gets caught in his throat. With the way that she is looking at him, he could easily piss his pants; but he is used to her getting angry with him over the slightest things. He isn't quite sure if it is because she is being overly sensitive or because he doesn't have a filter for the things that came out of his mouth.

"He realized just how violent you were. You know peaceful Bolin isn't one to take on someone as headstrong as you," Mako tells her as smoothly as possible, attempting to not falter with her gaze. "But as an officer, I think I can say I like the thrill."

Eventually, her face relaxes and she turns back to her mirror, trying to burn off her bangs with her eyes.

"You're lucky I like you." Korra mutters angrily to Mako even though she wasn't looking at him. "Ugh, I'm really going to burn my hair off!"

"You'll burn off your face if the fire gets too close to you."

For a second, she smiles—the ire no longer present on her features. "You're lucky I know how to control fire."

He gulps. What did he say this time?
